It is a good habit to ask for permission to send email before doing it.
Unless I answer to an ad that invites email reply, I phone or send a brief intro letter, fax or a telegram first and suggest they answer to a specific email address from their official business server.
Who has no own web account + email@that_account.ext is not likely to afford to be in business, but I do accept email from some yahoo and gmail etc. accounts from people I trust.
About the offer itself: Domains have no intrinsic value, but the value that seller and payer agree - Whatever third party estimations and comparisons. It is as with cars and houses: Pay the asking price, negotiate, or forget about it.
Here, the communication was clear:
- Potential buyer and seller have clearly very different ideas about the price of the domain.
- Domain owner is clearly upset for 2 main reasons
a) Because of being asked to sell.
b) Because of the offered price.
c) Perhaps emotions are related to former NP membership issues.
Good business should be built on trust and politeness.
Imho.
On the Net since 1993
I would start by inquiring whether the name is available for sale. No mention of money.
You're spoiling your own negotiations by submitting alowballinsulting offer.
Ignorance of low-balling is not an excuse for low-balling.
May the domains be with you!
Looking for Adult Web Developer to create www(dot)Thumbnails(dot)xxx - PM to discuss
Denny is a cokehead.....
I'm buying credit, banking, loan, insurance related generics in .com, .net, .org with high search volumes/traffic. Will consider typos too! - PLEASE PM with name, info, & asking price!
Am I the only one here does not think clothingstore dot com is worth 100K?
1K is low, but the response is over the top.

|VISEOP.com - We manage Content, SEM, SEO: Higher Revenue|
Why don't you also post those two emails that you sent Denny instead of just vaguely describing what you wrote? You've taken the liberty to post his response to the letter for everyone to gloat at DNF without the whole message chain being open for examination.
Something tells me that you were not that polite either and maybe his response was only made because of provocation from your part...

The funny part is I have just over 200K in the bank and that was just an initial offer. Since you're a first rate dick I'll pass on principal alone.

No wonder Denny went crazy. The guy emails him and then is an *** way before Denny even became rude.
Spam people, lowball them, then get pissy with them.....then come here and expect sympathy. Bad form, Joel.
