I rarely sell names (more of a collector and developer), and the second someone makes me an offer on a name I get greedy or nervous that I'll get taken, that it could be more down the road etc.
I got a phone call today about a hand reg 3 word name I bought in the past year. I do have plans for the site, but not as a full time business - more of a "this would make a nice adsense site". Round 1 of negotiation has me an offer of $4,000. Instead of saying wow, that's a nice profit - i'll build the site on another url and pocket $3992 - I'm stuck worrying about who the buyer might be, what I could miss out on etc.
Anybody else suffer from this affliction? The real way to make the money is buy / sell / upgrade /repeat - but I haven't been so good at that over the years. This time, I'm going to do it...
btw - I've had more inquiries about my domains in the past month than I have in the past year. Anybody else getting that?
I know a lot people who suffer from this!
The easy remedy for that symptom is to use simple common sense.
Works everytime.
Yup.. End-users are knocking down doors lately. The end user market is just terrific.btw - I've had more inquiries about my domains in the past month than I have in the past year. Anybody else getting that?
If you want to maximize your profit, you do need to research your buyer and to test their buying potential. If you don't ask, you won't get.
You must be regging good names to have people contact you on a regular basis. I WISH someone wanted one of my domains bad enough that they'd call me.
I got one $100 offer from through one of the popular domain parking services and I countered with a $2.5k offer then said I am willing to negotiate, but $100 was too low. Got nothing back.
The last time I got a request to buy one of my domains was like in 1998..so wtf am I doing wrong..
Do you get offers from existing websites or just parked domains? Like do you think that because the site is active that the people get interested OR are your names that intriguing that people will just contact you ...
If someone had the same syndrome at 1995 era, he should have owned Internet today.
I get lowball offers all the time. The idea is to "filter" these out in a manner that does not affect your business focus. Etc. an alleged student with a budget of "only $100" wants to buy my .com; my response is: "Then why not spend $10 and register the .net, it's available". I didn't hear back from the guy![]()
hi dude,
yup know what ur talking about, but chances are a 3 worder is not gonna be amazing that u handregged, although maybe pretty good. 4k sounds a very nice offer and they may be the only enduser who will ever come a calling. domains wont be around forever, remeber that. for foreseeable future, but who can look further than a couple years these days, if that
anyway, counter with say 6k to make yourself feel better and upgrade and pat urself on back for a job well done
btw, yes, getting tons of offers these days. its a good year!
