    the advantage is ...having money already in your account to renew domains, rather than having to login and renew each time.

    of course some other registrars do allow for "automated" renewals if you enter a cc or pp address.

    Most Directi accounts allow you this option of funding your account.

    If Directi resellers, be careful. I (and many others) have had issues with some Directi resellers, most notably (for me) Answerable.
