Register Today on DNForum IT'S FREE!I'm so angry, I bought a domain name from someone who has the name on yahoo domains, and they do not allow transfers!! WTF kind of registration company doesn't do transfers, so basically I'm going to have to ask the guy to drop the domain name from the account / cancel it (which means my site will be down) then I'm going to have to re-register it once it becomes available. This is BS, I'll never use yahoo again even if they charge $3 for domain names. The customer service people are horrible as well, the guy on the phone was a real asshole.
I don't think u can re-register immediately after the guy drops the domain until it expires actually..I am stuck with them too for some of mine..
I wouldn't let it drop ---- Just stick with them, there is nothing you can do.....
I recently had a similar problem with hostultra... If you register a domain name throughthem, you never really own the name, they are just leasing it to you.... Real BS, but that's how they decide to do business....
That's the thing, I CAN'T stick with them. He has other domain names in the account, so I can't have access to the domain name i paid a good ammount for. I'm pretty pissed....
We're going to try a transfer anyway, I'll let you know what happens.

That's the first I've heard of that. You're not allowed to transfer a name out? Never heard of this with any registrar.

I have transferred several domains from Yahoo to other registrars (after the 60 day waiting period). In fact, my most recent transfer just completed today. I was hesitant at first, but each one went through without any problems. One tip, DO NOT cancel your domain at Yahoo until you get a conformation from Yahoo, and the registry the domain is being transferred to, that the transfer has gone through! MAKE SURE TO CANCEL IT AFTER THE TRANSFER BECAUSE THEY WILL ACT LIKE YOU STILL OWN THE DOMAIN AND CHARGE YOU WHEN IT "EXPIRERS"(I don't know how they get away with this)!!
I know that Yahoo does have a horrible admin area. If you plan on NOT reselling the domain, just purchase for 5 years and you can’t go wrong, just remember to transfer out before it expires because they charge $9.99 to renew at the moment! Also, they fixed the bug that allowed existing customers to buy at the $2.99 deal. That offer is only for new customers... I tried to purchase more from them today at that price and I was denied.

Yea it turns out you can transfer out, I put in the request today so we will see how long it takes. I didn't think they could make you stay there, that felt very sketchy. The not being able to push into another account part is pretty crummy though.
was it bug then? i have regged plenty of them for 2.99, hope they will not charge me extra after deal doneOriginally Posted by DThompson
Likewise. If they do then their customer support will be hearing a lot from me.Originally Posted by Angelx666

when they had the 1.99 domains, i got some for 5 years, i was able to transfer after the 60 days no problem
I have a .org with yahoo domains (they use melbourneit as the registrar)
I want transfer it to another registrar.
I've unlocked it, but as you know I need the AUTHorization code also cos its a .org.
Problem is the AUTHorization code isin't shown in the yahoo domain control panel, their FAQ says to contact customer support to get it.
I've done that and even confirmed my ZIP code etc when they replied, but since then nothing.... no code... no contact at all from them.
I've emailed them again, but they seem to have turned into a blackhole (or else they just take ages to reply to email)
Is there any chance that melbourneit would give me the AUTH code?
melbourne it has to give you the auth code most of the time, you need the key form them first

Too bad, there is no efficient way to get the authorization code automatically?
And we have to send the email to and fro to get the auth. code?
