Domaining captures many different many different types of top level domains, country code domains, or genre of keyword category domains with established markets and commodity values. Expertise in various types of online activity, email campaigns, promotion programs and features need ancillary advice. But there is a limit to the good faith and better judgement of some domainers.
Case Study Premise: Candy hires Andy to fix repair and market her domain name www.topkeywordforum.BRAZIL, and she had paid a premium price for it.
A)
Andy performs all his programmed activities but Candy emails him daily that her Google and Adsense earnings have not changed. Andy is confused. Is Candy ignorant of normal internet profit cycles, and to what degree (and to what end) does Candy feel his can answerably respond? How much of the website's behavior is Andy responsible for? How does this correspond to the decisions regarding design and features Candy has insisted upon? Candy also has opinion about what Brazilians want in the site which cannot be backed up by research or data. Andy knows that most of the seach engine referrals do not come from Brazilians.
B)
Andy has spent so much time negotiating the deal he feels exhausted before it starts. Candy proceeds to pepper him with emails demanding huge amounts of research and turn time on pointless project aspects. Candy beleives that the premium price she has apid for the domain must return in value within three months. Andy spends more time reading and answering Candy's hourly emails that working on the project, which makes Andy feel like he is throwing all his time away for no return. Andy draws a line in the sand. Candy decides someone else can do Andy's job better and emails him he's fired. Candy does not intend to send his fees.
C)
The consulting scope is inclusive of Andy expanding Candy's knowledge base. But Candy leverages Andy's knowledge to get him to function as a underling, performing tasks not suited to his skills or earning power. Candy does not follow up research and reading that improves her understanding of terms and concepts. Instead of pacing Andy's competence with an attempt at understanding, Candy forces Andy into a service role. Andy halts any communication with Candy, as achievable milestones have flown by the wayside.
D)
Andy has made himself available for weekly conference calls and performed his tasks on his side. But Candy has had a number of personal emergencies, family problems, and illnesses that causes her to rearrange the timetables. Is Andy entitled to compensation according to the deal terms even if Candy's schedule has played havoc with the milestones? Does Candy's randomness invalidate the payment schedule? Who can referee the meltdown before the financial spectre burns bridges? Andy feels Candy has stalled the progress on the website and domain activities using excuses, palliating the situation until she can make her mind up.
