Where to sell your virtual real estate

Selling your domains and websites can be tricky if you don't know where to sell. There are many platforms out there but you are probably wondering what platform would be the best to sell your virtual real estate. I am going to list places that are free and that are not free. Many will say a listing on Site point would be well worth the fees but I think that is just a matter of speculation & opinion.

Free places to list your virtual reality for sale for sale, you have forums such as

Young Entrepreneur - This is a very lucrative site, they even have a place where you can list your domains and websites for everyone to see. They are in partnership with Partner Up. this forum is geared towards entrepreneurs. You can often times find end users lurking around on this site.

Start up Nation - This is another business and start up related forum and you can browse listings. There might be users there that are looking to get into businesses and they may need a website or a domain.

The paid resources I have found to be really helpful and the costs have in the long run paid off for me & this may not be for everyone.

DNForum - You can pay for a membership that will last your entire life or at least the entire lifespan of DNForum. They have Gold (free) Platinum (paid) & Exclusive (paid). While you are navigating around, it's okay to be a gold member but once you get the spin of things and how everything works, I recommend upgrading.

You can sell your sites and domains in a non traditional way such as newspaper ads, sometimes you can go on Craigslist, people may be looking. Another way you can go about this is to sell directly to businesses. I can go on and on about several different tactics to use when approaching end users. I may actually write another segment on how to to target end users, what to look for and what they are looking from you.

Selling your sites & domains via your own blog requires you to have a lot of traffic unless you have a specific page dedicated to your domains/sites and people stumble upon it because of the searches on the search engines.

You can also look at selling your domains via social networks such as FaceBook, MYSpace, LinkedIN and Some NING communities.

A few words of advice, always think outside the box when dealing with your virtual real estate. You never know who might buy your domains/websites. So leave no stone untouched.

    Happy Domaining!

Those are also some good avenues to go down as well but auctions always seem to make me nervous when people are bidding because you never know what it will go for. These are just resources that will enable you to get the sale regardless of the price. This article was more geared towards the various selling websites and domains. I'll emphasize more about other avenues.
I personally don't recommend Sedo as it is hard to finish the sale after wards, there are many complaints in that reference but I am sure it's good for getting exposure.
I am not super familiar with Afternic, but take a look around the forum to get more information. There are services such as Moniker as well. Just need to do your due diligence.
    Thanks for reading,
    Patty
