There has been one or two when DRT specifically said to uninstall the previous version. To get the automatic update to work properly, Right click and run DRT as Administrator. Then the automatic update will work properly.

The tool recognizes majority of the keywords out of a domain name wrong, which in turn becomes less useful to use at google externnal tool. Also I don't understand why G External tool is not a tab in scan settings.

Is there a way to make DRT more smart recognizing keywords?

E.g. deedsonline.co.uk de ed son line.

I just purchased DRT and encountered some problems with it. I was able to open up the program successfully only once. After that, every time I try to open it up, it says something to the tune of "the serial number associate with your software is invalid. Please reinstall DRT with a valid serial number".
Does the help file work for everyone? Everytime I click on a topic in the help file, it says 'the page cannot be displayed'.
A final question, I'm planning to purchase a new laptop. Do I have to reinstall DRT on the new laptop/ how does the process work?
I emailed Luc yesterday but haven't received a response yet.

Did you enter the valid serial number you received while purchasing DRT?
If yes, uninstall drt and reinstall. it will ask you for a serial number, enter the serial number you received, else it will install in the trial mode.

I uninstalled DRT and reinstalled again using the provided link and the serial number, and this time it's working properly. Thank you for the suggestion!

I am considering purchasing this software tonight or tomorrow. Using the trial it seems my IP has already been blocked by Yahoo and Google. Should I be seeing any problems with Alta Vista for the TERM SEARCH w/o using proxies?

If you don't have a nice bag of fresh proxies, IMHO this tool will not work for you. I think it's time this 'tool' was qualified by Luc so that everyone knows what they are buying in to. I bought it once and became a reseller and lost my own code. I still cannot get a code reminder despite the fact I am (was) a reseller and my email address is valid as a purchaser. Time to re-write this I think...

Dale, if you need your serial number, all you have to do is either go into your email and find the original email sent to you with the serial number, or you can contact Luc... or better yet, I can get in contact with him for you.

Im not sure how long its been since you have used DRT, but there are proxies built into the tool now, and you are able to download the provided proxies from the tool, and into the tool without placing any physical download onto your computer. The proxies are updated daily.

If you are looking to search for everything under the sun including PR, overture, backlinks, term raking etc. on an entire list of thousands of names at one time... You will not get great results. But if you generalize your focus on one or two particular aspects of the domain names, such as just backlinks and PR, or even just backlinks... the quality of your results will be much better, the system will act much faster, and you will spare your proxies a bit longer.

Duncan, I do suggest you use proxies for all searches, although you can do limited searches without them... It slows down the process a great deal if you dont use them. Like I said to Dale, its easy to upload the proxies with the new interface. When DRT first came out, you had to find or purchase proxies on your own... I rarely ever even used them and got terrible results. I then purchased a solid list of proxies and my results were amazing. Now you dont even have to purchase them so its better to just use them. I wouldnt even expect accurate results without them, as you may not even be notified that your banned within certain search engines.

If anyone has any other questions please feel free to ask... I still use this tool daily. Its great to scan drop lists, but even better to create your own little niche way of finding good solid names. With so many tools, you can use more then one at a time and develop your own way of finding good names, and tap into fields that have yet to be tapped into.

Andrew, if you can sort this out with Luc, I'll be very appreciative as well as surprised.

Thanks!

Dale

Thanks, I actually ended up purchasing the software using your link. I've been banned in several aspects - Google TR seems to last the longest without a ban. I probably scanned a few thousand names. Haven't tried the proxies yet - Will write back after I use them.

Yeah like I said Duncan, you should expect much more accuracy with proxies. You may get results without them... but results are worthless if not accurate. Dale... Sure, I will talk to Luc for you... I;m sending you a PM now... and will see what I can do.

I still use the software for easy sorting, but I don't scan for metrics much anymore. I guess if I find a group of good names I will scan them.

I'm still not sure how the whole proxy thing works, I know you insert IP's etc though.

Also, when I click a domain in DRT my computer makes a funny noise that comes from the hard-drive of my computer? It's sort of annoying.

As previously said, limit your search criteria. Focus on 1 or 2 aspects instead of all. Slow down your speed, and limit the threads. Always use proxies... It's not the software itself that does not work, its how your using it... Anything can be un useful if not used correctly.

I suggest reading the information that went along with the software... It will help you greatly.

I use this tool daily. I use to get errors, before I tweaked the search settings, and started using proxies. I dont get errors anymore, and scan lists of 100,000 names in a few hours.
