According to the azlyrics advertise page they have 150,000,000 monthly pageviews. They should easily get $50,000 monthly just from . I am 99% sure, that they have much higher earnings, but $50,000 is an absolute minimum with such a huge traffic.

Fact #2 - Lyrics is a big segment, there are enough space for everybody

Also I am going to break few myths about lyrics.

Myth 1. Its impossible to compete with old lyrics sites, they have extremely strong backlinks, they have huge user base, they have search engines trust - nobody can move them away from this segment.
Thats false, you CAN compete with old sites.
Yes, it take a lot of time and efforts, but its worth it. If you will check lyricsmode.com, they have been started in 2007 and they have alexa rank 1,973. Not so great, as azlyrics, but I bet lyricsmode owner already can get nice new car from few months site profit.

So after breaking Myth 1, we have got new fact
Fact #3 - If you have strong balls, you can kick veterans's ass. Even new lyrics site can take their part of the huge lyrics pie

Myth 2. Lyrics is illegal.
Well, according to the Fair use principle, if you provide lyrics only for the educational purposes - its legal.

Anyway, I don't want to start new 10 pages discussion about "is lyrics legal or no?". I simply do not have time for all this stuff.
I have simple question for somebody who claim that it's illegal.

azlyrics.com was launched in 2000, domain are registered to the US address(WHOIS), hosted at the ev1servers.net (azlyrics.com have ip 72.55.137.248, hosted at the Canada according to the ip 2 location tool).If it's illegal, why nobody closed azlyrics.com for the last 8 years?

Fact #4 - Theoretically, if you will write word "Madonna" in your blog, you may be sued for it. You can consult with your lawyer about it, if you do not believe me. In real life, music holdings have HUGE problems with peer 2 peer music downloads, torrent sites and other stuff not related with lyrics. They actually don't care about lyrics sites, because they have more important problems and because it do not directly decrease their sales.
