Any Domain Registration Company For Sale? (accredited only)

I might be intrested in a domain registration company that is for sale. I am only looking for registration company that is accredited by ICANN. If you know of one or know someone who can assist me please pm me or post on this thread. Please note i am not willing to start one. Thank you

adill, I don't know what you expect to pay, but I wouldn't count on anything less than $150,000.

really? the cost to be a registrar is like $6500 ..the only reason i dont want to do that is because $2500 is their consideration fee..also i would love to hear from someone about any other costs such as running etc. thanks

They want $3 mil and grosses $120,000? Usually the EBITDA (earning before interest,tax, deprec. and amotiz.) is 6 to 8 for a thriving company.

It also depends on the quality of domains, customer base, computer age, staff, etc.

insurance? for what? also customer base..the way I see domain registration customer base is not a big deal..besides I am not looking for customers..Just need a established business..I wouldn't mind to start one but that $2500 non-refundable just doesn't sound right..any ideas? suggestions?

Well $70,000 capital and $4000 + $500 for suffix is not a problem..And the liability insurance now i know what you are talking about not a big problem either..only thing is $2500 application which is more of a non-refundable "consideration" fee correct? if it is an application process fee that most likely they will take you as a registrar then I guess I can try..Please throw some highlight on this

Ditto. Apart from internet connection and servers what else one needs? Also how are registrations done? through Versign's API or something else? Also, how can drop service be implemented as well?

I am sure these questions will educate a lot of people as everyone wants to know how registrars are running their businesses. Thanks

Adill, I looked at the cost of taking dropwizard to a registrar status. These are rough figures

70k capital (can't be used must be maintained)
10K working cash
20k servers and software
2500 Icann
10k misc.

I figured 110-120 k without paying for offices, employees, tech people etc etc and carrying the above for 1-2 years before becoming profitable.

I figured 250 -300k in total.

I couldn't justify the outlay considering the declining market for domain registrations. It's currently a shrinking industry headed for consolidation.

If it could be done for $2500 we'd have done it a long time ago.

Verisign also requires a 125k performance bond. Very few new companies would qualify to get a performance bond. You'd have to put up the cash instead.

Just wondering. Is the quarterly fee paid by registrars to cover the annual domain cost? It seems like it couldn't be an additional fee, but it doesn't seem to match the number of domains registered. Does the cost of a domain fluctuate for them instead of being exactly $6?

There is a fee they are responsible for which is based on the volume of registrations they have done. The $6/reg does not fluctuate.
