Last I checked, it was kinda pricey. And, when you've been around domains for a long time, you naturally have some sense about them.

I used to subscribe before that dumb credit system was put in place, then I dropped it like a hot potato.

Good they came to their senses and dropped it.

The downside now is that only current subscribers are grandathered into the previous payment system, which was less expensive.

    Hey Elliot,

I'm signed up but only with a Free account. I find the paid accounts to expensive to sign up to at this time.

The historical whois is a great tool to have though and if the price was cheaper I might sign up.

wow, looks like they've doubled their prices....i subscribed off and on but for whatever reason i was never auto rebilled so i'd have to sign up every month. i doubt i will ever join again at those prices.

Whois history for 10 Domains = $9.95 ala carte sounds good
If I was buying a big bucks name, I would def. pay $9.95 to check the history
    Nice site redesign

Disagree, that price seems extremely high for only 10 lookups. A $10 flat fee for unlimuted lookups would be more acceptable, at least to me.

for 15 a month you could look up as many as you wanted previously. i would think a 5-7 dollar hike might be acceptable but double? nah.

    yes.

Used history lookup for an inquiry on a name I picked up. Was worth the subscription just on that deal alone.

Yes and for $30 as month, peanuts annually when you consider the use, for history I use clickmojo because if there is anything worth anything that the whois owner has I can use that current email and past email over at clickmojo in research tool and see what they have with ovt/w.

Redesign looks good, still a bit pricey. They have valuable tools for the HARDCORE domainers I guess.
I'd rather put my money here for the next few motnhs and see what flourishes:

Just my opinion, and no that isn't an affiliate link, I havent even signed up yet, still thinking about it.

That's what I thought, but they canceled my subscription today. I checked the prices and it seem they charge twice as much but limit the most valuable tools, historic whois and reverse IP.

    More money for less resources.

It would benefit their business to add an affiliate program.

Would you prefer an affiliate program to direct ad deals - especially when most forum visitors probably visit other blogs, and they'd be likely to get those cookies as well when clicking on the links?

For me either way is fine, just looking for a way all domainers can earn revenue by referring all their great services.

Back to the original question, I have used domaintools for years and find their services well worth the money I save in time.

The whois history is EXTREMELY helpful.
