Its paid to be here. Only the admins can make it a sticky post so it appears at the top of the forum. They have set up a forum for free advertising but they accept paid advertising anywhere at all in these forums.

Thanks for all the feedback so far. Now back on subject....any comments about the functionality and what needs to be incorporated so that this software can work for you guys to get some really good domain names? This is your chance to put in your wish list of what you are missing in tools....

An overture checker would be a nice feature to add to the program including a way to import a list of proxy servers. Also, a feature to either automatically export the data into a MySQL database or export it to a .txt or .csv file for easy importing.

Re: Expired Domain Sleuth - Find, Filter, Link Pop, Bulk Whois, Manage your Domains!

Overture checker for domains with/without extension is coming next release
Proxy support is coming in next release.
Export to CSV is already in the current version.

The deleted list can be slow for the following reasons:
1) you are adding filters to it.
2) If you have given it a large list of keyword filters
3) If you are overwhelming the server with multi-threaded calls to try to download everything, you will be slowed down by the server itself. Please don't overwhelm. The software is setup to help you get specific information, not data dumps.

Stevesko, Please PM me your specific search as well as how many threads you were using so we can check it out.

Expirepro. Yes we started slowing down the Bulk Whois queries back from Version 3 as too many users were checking out lists in the tens of thousands and getting banned by the whois servers. We changed the methodology to only hit whois servers as infrequently as possible to minimize banning. The software is setup so you first find your domains, FILTER them out until you get a GOLD list, then do link popularity to filter them further and only THEN do you use Whois (on as small a list as possible)

How many domains were in your TXT file? As long as you have 1 domain per line, it should be lightening fast.....unless you have a huge list. Then you have to expect some delays.

The software is written in C++, one of the fastest and stablest platforms to work in. Its multi-threaded so works with multiple requests at the same time. We've had it handle 750,000 domains at once...and is mostly limited in speed to the RAM you have, the timeouts you have set in the program, and the number of domains in your lists.

The program is extensively reliant on the internet for its information...so it is susceptible to internet speed, your firewall settings, external server timeouts...etc.

If there is anything specific you are finding, by all means PM me. We're keen on making this program exactly what you need to get these domains for you.

Thanks,

Randall

Re: Expired Domain Sleuth - Find, Filter, Link Pop, Bulk Whois, Manage your Domains!

750,000 domains in one list checking the data? How long did it take to run the list? If I run a list of 50,000 names with a P4 2.8 with 1gb ram on cable connection how long do you estimate it take to run through the list?

blaster?

Re: Expired Domain Sleuth - Find, Filter, Link Pop, Bulk Whois, Manage your Domains!

No...it wasn't checking 750,000. I used the "find" feature to scour the 20 or so search engines that the software supports. I left it running for several days with about 15-20 threads.

It gathered that many domains in my "subject" area and then I used filtering to eliminate the Active ones....leaving me with some deactivated domains.

I filtered further for only .com, .net...etc which left me with a nice list of about 7000 which is used link pop on. That took about 2 hours....I decreased the number of threads to 5 to avoid blacklisting.

Eliminating non-trafficked site brought me to about 1500 which I looked to see which domains were coming due in the next year with a bulk whois search. That left me with about 500 which I manually went through.

bottom line is....try to filter your lists as much as possible before using link pop or whois on this or ANY tool out there. This tool was built with C++.NET and supports multi-threaded querying.

It incorporates most of the individual tools each domain hunter uses into one nice package.

But if there is something missing....we're developing Version 5 now...still open to suggestions

Re: Expired Domain Sleuth - Find, Filter, Link Pop, Bulk Whois, Manage your Domains!

if there were better training or explain how to get the most out of it that would help us all. It looks like a great tool, I just need to figure it out. All I did was get the days drop list and filter it. That whet fast, but the list is still large (14K names). What took so long was the ovt check.

There is currently no overture check...although it is being developed for the next version.

Re: Expired Domain Sleuth - Find, Filter, Link Pop, Bulk Whois, Manage your Domains!

No firm date...but I anticipate its going to be year end or January. Anybody who buys since at least October will get a free update.

We are developing Overture checker for:
a) domain name with TLD
b) domain name without TLD
c) any domain that has dictionary words in it (i.e. realword.com has 2 dictionary words in it). We will break the domain into 2 words and check the overture queries on it as well.

Now for all the diehard domain hunters, is (c) a useful tool for you? We don't use this measure ourselves...but Google does put relevancy weight into whether the search keyword is in your domain name. So the search for "real word" should bring www.realword.com higher in the search results.

Thus if you find a domain that has a high keyword search on the words that make up this domain, the domain should be more valuable.

Any comments or suggestions are appreciated.

Re: Expired Domain Sleuth - Find, Filter, Link Pop, Bulk Whois, Manage your Domains!

Does anyone use the Zone Files for finding domains? Or is everyone using published lists?

Is Exody still the industry leader when it comes to domain lists?

Re: Expired Domain Sleuth - Find, Filter, Link Pop, Bulk Whois, Manage your Domains!

Why do you use the zone files instead of just an expired domain list? Is it just because the zone files can be obtained free or is there another reason?

Thanks for your input!

Re: Expired Domain Sleuth - Find, Filter, Link Pop, Bulk Whois, Manage your Domains!

i don't always trust expired domain lists to have all the domains for the specific status. Exody is THE BEST, however when i compile my own lists I see a difference between exody lists and my lists. these aren't just drop lists, they're Registrar-Hold and Redemption Period and PendingDelete. The difference isn't huge, but even a few hundred names can mean 1 good name here and there.

Sometimes exody has domains I don't, and I have domains that exody doesn't. Both systems have about 90% similarity in the various lists generated.
