Nah that was a going away 'present' from my biz partner. He thought it would be amusing.. just as I find the fish I left in the trunk of his jeep for when he gets back from Cuba in a couple of weeks funny.

I'm thinking about giving one a try with hosting... What will hosting cost after the first year? Also, if one were to move the site to another provider at some point, are there any issues with that? I don't want to play games if/when that time comes...

Hosting for an entire year is only $10 - $2 for the first year. You can move it away any time you like, you will have a complete copy of all files sent to you as soon as I finish the minisite. Same with any revisions - say an affiliate expires, I'll change out the ad and resend the changed files.
