| HostingSpeeds.com - the hosting speeds comparison project Dear fellow Dnforum members,
I need your help to get a unique project up and running.
Today I have set up a custom-written php script called the 'HostingSpeeds.com - the hosting speed comparison project'.
Basically it is a script that collects page download speed test results performed on the sites of registered webmasters.
The script is based on the idea that webmasters may want to know how their web host compares to other web hosts.
These registered webmasters upload a 100kb file to their site and ask their own visitors to perform speed tests on their servers. The speed tests are offered to the visitors by a piece of HTML-code.
Because these webmasters specify which hosting company they use, we write all the speed test results to the database of hosting companies.
Users can see all kinds of ranks of the web hosting companies speeds.
If a new user signs up and his/her hosting company is not in our database yet, the new user is asked to add their hosting company to the database him/herself. That way the actual speed of a fairly unlimited number of hosting companies can be calculated based on stats of one or more of their hosting clients.
Hosting companies added by users are invited to add their hosting plans to our database, so our visitors can compare hosting companies by speed and cost.
Registered webmasters can even see how their server speed is compared to other clients of that hosts.
Of course all webmaster data stays hidden.
To get things started 3 hosting companies have been added to the database.
I am looking for webmasters who want to test their actual server speed and contribute to the database by adding their site, specifying their hosting company and having their visitors perform speed checks.
This project is 100% free to use.
Thanks for your time and I hope you join the project.
Kind regards,
