DNF$: 400 Location: India | Marketing your Forums with Ease! Hey Guys,
As most of you might know, I'm back after a really long time. So, I got to be a part of this community to make up for the days I've missed it.
So, Here's my First Contribution :
This ebook titled " Forum Marketing Techniques", is a book that teaches people out here, how to make forums a grand success. Not all at DNF, but one (or) two, might have an inferiority complex as to how they can make a forum, (or) whether they can own a forum and administrate it. Note: Even Webmaster newbies, are eligible to use this book, as I have written it from the basics of Forums.
Also, this ebook isn't like many others ranting about bull crap. It sticks to the point, and is written by in English of International Standards.
So, Please PM me, to get a copy of this ebook for Free!
Read it, reply to this thread with your Review about my book.
Cheers,
-Wiz!

Country: | I've received a copy and will check it out tonight when I get home.
You might also want to ask the mods to move this to the advertising area since it is advertising and not (directly) about SEO traffic.
OK, I am currently going over the book and I'll write this as I go so if it seems jumpy, that would be why.
.com - while it is the best option for a domain it is not the only one. You do mention .info but said a .com would be the way to go. Sometimes a very good .org, .net, or .info (or ccTLD) would be far better than what is available in a .com. A keyword.org would do much better in search engine results than a my-keyword-forum.com ( I actually have a .org that does far better than the same domain.com with searches for Keyword and a few other common searches). Also, OHY3 with GoDaddy isn't permanent.
But, it is good you didn't spend 10 pages going over how to register a domain like some eBooks do (fluff).
phpBB / vBulliten- you say they are the way to go. Why? You might want to go into a short plus and minus for each SW (for example, SMF has built in RSS import while phpBB doesn't). You don't need to be long, maybe a feature or two that makes each one stand out. Quote: |
one has to adopt a few kickass techniques
| You're marketing to professionals. This sounds a little juvenile. Maybe change it to "strong techniques" or "unique techniques".
Not many people, especially beginners (whom this is geared towards) might not know a lot of the lingo. JV? (Page 6, I think).
The rest of the book isn't bad. It isn't intended for the absolute beginner, it seems to be more intended for the beginner webmaster who knows the basics (setting up the forum, registering a domain, getting hosting etc.). Most people here (on this forum) wouldn't benefit from it since a lot of it is close to beginner knowledge but many new webmasters and forum admins would benefit from it.

DNF$: 400 Location: India | Hey Draggar, thanks for your review.
Here's Answers for your queries :
1. .Com is the the most welcomed and bought TLD in the Webmaster Arena. Maybe there are domains, with other TLD's being purchased. But, .Com is being more popular these days.
2. Regarding the GoDaddy code, OYH3 has been available for more than 4 months now, and it is still available. When it changes, I will update users. Don't worry on it.
3. Regarding the forums, phpBB is something I prefer for its user-friendliness and Security system. SMF is also good, no doubt, but, in the book, me being the write,I prefer phpBB. As per paid softwares, vBulletin is the best, IMO!
4. I will change the term "kickass" to something more professional.
5. Regarding your reply on book for webmaster newbies, I would say, there are a few people unsuccesful with their forums. They can also use it.
Thanks.
-Wiz!

Country: | I finally read the ebook. draggar has shown most of the points I wanted to make, so there remains just three:
1. you should add some information on picking the right sctructure for a new forum; this is where people make a lot of mistakes.
2. contents organization, I think the block about posts exchange and paid forum posters should go immediately after setting up the forum software, instead of many SEO/SMO-related techniques. Before driving people to the forum you should fill it with something that will make people interested. Nobody wants to post in an empty place.
3. lack of information on forum moderation and community building aspects. This info would be greatly appreciated.
This ebook can be helpful for webmasters building their first forum.
Good luck, blackwizard! |

Country: | managed to find some to to browse over the book, and it seems pretty solid. For those that are new to developing websites, or creating communities, it would help immensely with all the tips on article submissions, link building, creating buzz, etc. I have noticed a lot of domainers on here dont know much about monetising their domains apart from parked pages, if you just gave a couple of your domains the chance to monetise beyond parking, using this book could help you generate more revenue, and increase the value to your domain. |
