Interesting, considering 0bama.com (typo) ended on SEDO auction today. Was this decision made today?

I think just a very jolting move and stance by the part of Sedo, also consider some of there own personal shady practices of stacking the deck in the past and suspicious back office deals and conflict of interest.

The have a long history of selling and pandering to more then gray area TM domains and worse.

Although you never know maybe they have a good reason to do this, since they are bigger than us. I am sure they hear things come down the pipe before us, if this were true, then shame on them for holding back the information.

But you and I know this is likely not the story. It is of ignorance.

Not saying this is a brainy move from Sedo, but I am not surprised. After all politicians are celebs too so their names may be TMed somehow.
Besides names of losing candidates obviously have a very short shelf life
Honestly names like historyofpresidentbarackobama.info suck, don't tell me you expect these names to sell or make you big bucks on parking ?
Perhaps it's a good thing actually and Sedo should move forward to remove the crap that clutters the marketplace...

So, political names are illegal but trademarked names are?

Maybe we should let big G know about Sedo actively selling TM domains and are profitting from them? I wonder what G would do?

(Most likely nothing, Sedo makes G so much $$$ right now...)

Sedo did not say they are removing all politicians' names but definitely those of the candidates. There is no tm issue, just some apparent political pressure to divert traffic to other channels - that may or may not be official web sites.

They removed two of mine as well...I tell you they are losing their appeal quickly. They make changes without any type of testing, make rash decision and I am not sure I see their value proposition any more...too much hassle...

Sedo suck at parking revenue / sedo sucks at payouts / sedo sucks all together......sedo is only good if you list your domain like credit.com for 60.00 dollars....they have set the trend for 60.00 any domain you want....

Now then, let's not generalize the issues here. I am sure there are pros and cons of using every PPC company and experiences vary depending on the domains. The issue is that by employing this particular act of filtration Sedo demonstrates a less than open mind to what constitutes domaining; after all, there are some unethical domains listed and several trademark domains as well - as others pointed out. Especially right before the elections when traffic to these political domains is expected to rise - the move is a slap across the face of those that trust Sedo as a domain selling marketplace.

Domainers love being victimized
Instead of whining and complaining about Sedo removing quasi worthless domains why not try to get better domains.
My 2¢.
BTW Sedo is reading the thread lol.

Kate, I will have to disagree here. It's not up to Sedo to dictate the focus of one's business. There is a legitimate aftermarket for political domains, including these that contain a candidate's name. Ad feed providers such as Google provide a very focused ad feed for these names, especially since they are a niche market. The timing of this blacklisting should be criticized as well: domains that were parked for the past 2-3 years are now suddenly removed by Sedo.

I am sure we will hear some polished explanation with no deep information about why this decision was made.

I agree. The Mccain domains especially will be worthless in a few months...

Sedo's response is borderline ridiculous.
