Sibername $15 TBR

Received an email from Sibername.
For those of you using or who may want to use Sibername they are offering a $15 minimum TBR catch which includes one year domain reg.

Deal runs for next 4 TBR's.

MyID also sent me an email this morning saying their minimum bid is now $14.

There's only one reason why they did this; Burmac, who used to be the registrar with whom you could pick up drops for $12.50, introduced a new system where $22.50 is the least you can pay for a given name. Looks like both MyID and Sibername are cashing in on this opportunity.

I'll tell you, this is quite valuable, because there are many names on TBR I'd wager $10 and change on, but certainly not the $60 that Pool wants. This is an easy sale for them, and come renewal, a repeat sale.

I do not understand your reasoning: MyID reduces its TBR minimum bid price because Burmac has supposedly raised theirs?

If a competitor raises prices to your higher level, why would you lower prices? The implication is that Burmac is better, and at higher prices, the other companies must then lower their prices to compensate.

MyID and Sibername use multiple RAR tags, so perhaps they are trying to build up some TBR market share, but all of this simply ignores the fact that Pool is there with far more access to the TBR than the two of them together.

Pool: $59.38

Burmac: $22.50

Sibername: $15.00

MyID: $14.00

At MyID, you can put in a $15 offer, but you will not advance to an auction if your bid is less than $60.

MSN You may be right. My $15 didn't get me anything at Sibername. I only wanted one and it was picked up by another rar. Actually now that I think of it the last few times I have tried for a TBR name at Sibername with the minimum bid I have been unsuccessful, or should I say they have been unsuccessful. Guess one gets for what one pays for.

I bet the graph of TBRs registered is starting to look like the oil production chart over the last century, but squished into a decade. I wonder how many years of TBR are left? One, maybe two?

I tried a few 15 buckers at Siber but didn't get any....Nothing I am sweating over

Siber got trickortreat at #10 and the last I saw Wednesday it was at min $250 bid I believe. So you can put in your $15 TBR request but the higher your bid the more of their available resources they put towards getting the name I presume. Makes sense to me. If there was something I really wanted I certainly would not have stuck in a $15 opening bid hoping to get it.
