    If I recall correctly, register.com does accept Paypal. You will add register.com as an automated payee within Paypal (you can remove them after your purchase)...

    I haven't done a domain at register.com in a while, so someone else may correct me.

    Given the credit card requirements mentioned in above posts, I suspect it is the same promo validation that GoDaddy uses - Credit Card only to prevent multiple uses better than accepting PayPal.
