The L.A. Times reports that 170 people have told L.A. health officials they became ill following the conference.

Methinks, it's not going to be easy to get people to Domainfest next year. ;(

Eh? How can you say that? They can't possibly check every single person attending the party for any diseases. This is a case of bad luck, that's all. It could have happened anywhere.

So the source of the outbreak came from the Whirlpool???.. Well, I was pretty certain it wasn't from the Air Conditioners like our resident "Doc" claims it was, Anyone familiar with Legionnaires disease knows the bacteria lives in temperatures between 77F and 113F. So how could it possibly come from an air conditioning unit where the water released from condensation is between 32F-40F degrees? HELLO!!!

I don't think your living up to your name very well, I think we need to change it for you again.

I disagree... The Playboy mansion has a reputation for STD's. And I think Domainfest shares in the responsibility for booking the mansion in the first place.

I know this is old now but Did anyone else see the news skit on Saturday night live about it? The show was titled for tv as "Miley Cyrus; The Strokes", and the news on Saturday night live had it titled as "Legionnaires' Discovered" below a picture of the playboy mansion. It said on the skit that LA health officials did discover the bacteria that causes legionnaires disease. ---- If this is true, I didn't know it was actually found.

I was one of the sick ones. We left Santa Monica on friday for a 4-5 hour drive to Vegas, started feeling rough on Saturday and by Sunday morning I was SICK so had to fly home 3 days early.

TMZ contacted me about it on facebook.

Does anyone know the bottom line of this story?

The last thing I read was "maybe Legionairres", and more likely H1N1 flu.

It was an airborne illness caused by stagnant warm water in the spas. I forget the exact name of the bacteria, but it was similar to and very much like the bacteria that the FDA outlawed hot tub and spa retailers to stop putting water in their displays.

I will do my best to find the article relating to this.
