Re: DNF Forum Design

hey- how about this:

i dont think the look is "clean" at all- there is a TON going on- which is fine- not my site....
but- i did work something up that does kinda condense an awful lot of wasted space and brings it more together instead of all over the place- take a look:

http://www.smashfactory.com/dn.htm

now- this is JUST a suggestion to help a bit-

Color combination and design look great - really professional. Kudos to the designer. Only downside is the right panel looks extremely wide.

Re: DNF Forum Design

maybe less of the blue on the forum makes it feel old, looks great on a 19 inch monitor.

Re: DNF Forum Design

I liked the 2002 style forum - can we go back to that one please?:-D
Seriously, if it ain't broke, no need to fix it.
I don't like it - and don't see the point in it.
We now have a much narrower forum with a big blank white space to the right.

I like the new design, very nice! As mentioned though, logo could use an update.

Re: DNF Forum Design

Don't like it, have to agree with all change opponents this time.

Looks messy, i also thought that it was not loading correctly. The forum was narrowed to put extra advertising. I remember many exclusive members wanted less ads.

Now u have got no more excuse for such a slow forum, you can afford to pay the hosting bills.

Re: DNF Forum Design

The dark grey bar at the top of each table NEEDS to be changed to a lighter shade or light color, the contrast is blinding, it's like looking at a black & white checker board.

And as other posters mentioned, everything needs to moved up, my suggestion is you get rid of the box where it says Enter Chat room and place the Advertising banner in the header where you have Google search. I like the size of the banner, keep it that size.

Re: DNF Forum Design

[RANT] Personally, I did not like it at all. This forum does not need over-commercialization. 1/3th width of homepage for ads seems bizarre. The intrinsic value of knowledge of the forum (if there is still!) is the real commercial value of DNF. Additionally I do not care about the "latest dnforum threads". If I need to look who posts what I already know where it is. The section which comes top "latest domain name auctions" was and is still a joke. I rather want to see real auctions like selected ads from domains for sale section by moderators, e.g. a 3-letter, a generic etc, instead of a shit like crazygirls.mobi.

I paid my duty to dnforum since CollegeDudeGreg era up to MrDomainGod era and it paid me back as experience. So frankly I do not care about its design etc. I come here to check SEDO section that's all. I advise newbies to read at this from but not for mediocre domainers. Mediocre domainers stay away from any forum and find a direct connection to domain holders. It is like piranhas against piranhas or donkeys vs mulls.

I remember once the quota of the owner; "never deal with a reseller while buying or selling a domain unless you have no chance" [/RANT]

Re: DNF Forum Design

I personally don't like this ugly side bar on the right, perhaps exclusives should get an added benefit of "no ads".

Thanks for the inaccurate quote, to be clear what I said was more like don't by from a 'smart' reseller as there is a reason they are selling it.

Bottom line, smart resellers don't sell profitable names without a reason, you need to understand that reason before purchasing. When people sell a house, they don't list all it's issues in the listing but it may be crawling with centipedes. If a deal looks to good, it probably is.

I still stick to that.

Now let's stick to the topic please.

Re: DNF Forum Design

My only down side is the Slow Load on the home page. Normal users will stick around, but new ones may not. Nothing worse than Turtle Speed. Oh I own that in the .com lol

Each page still seems to show Done with errors on page as well.

I get that too, the error only appears when using Internet Explorer, not Firefox....I ran into this at Parked where many functions on the page dont work..

As far as the page loading, it does appear slower.

Hmm, squished up, more ads, more scrolling, more empty space too... wouldn't have been my choice but I'm sure I'll survive
