I agree. The other thing that I like about credit card verification is that it, by force, ensures that whoever is signing up is 18 years of age or older and thus eligible to enter into a legally binding agreement.

Paypal on the other hand, is easy to obtain for a minor, as has been proven in past threads in this forum.

Oh, you most certainly can. However, debit cards are not treated like credit cards. So having one would not allow a minor to pose as an adult.

I think this is an EXCELLENT idea... the hoops are easy enough for serious members in any Paypal country; perhaps a secondary measure for verified users in countries where Paypal doesn't operate (but countries considered reasonably low-risk... and the barrier to Paypal not operating there being primarily due to banking regulations and not risk) ...

Timely, as I'm dealing at the very moment with a new member (less than a couple of weeks!) on a small $xxxx deal and am getting concerned by the anonymity and vagueness of his/her approach.

now, on to my fave moderator's suggestion:
