all that social media is over hyped IMO
myspace
it's how young kids date and brag now
not needed for a corporation other than having your name covered
the only 'social media' site worth anything IMO, is youtube, people look for stuff there
myspace and facebook, it's like high school clicks, young people with no dough and all talking about who they shagged last night
but congrats
you got a 'face book' page
LOL
I don't see any companies benefiting from FB, MSp or Twit really
Now you get a viral youtube video, it can launch a company
Then some will twit about you
So youtube is the key IMO to the whole social bs
I agree that the social thing is overhyped, however it has value for product announcements as far as retailers or sales people go. Twitter can just go away as far as I concerned except for celebrities, entertainment which wear it out.
Small business will not use FB as much as big business from shear lack of time and resources (money)
I think FB is good for this venue here , although the forum is very good for that obviously
the only 'business' that will 'benefit' from any social media is one that wants
a. consumers that average 12 to 22
b. consumers that buy on average minor purchases
c. consumers that have no real jobs and or income
now if you're selling hamburgers or soda to kids, yeah, you like the numbers
if you're a local business or professional, you want their parents and grand parents as your 'consumer'
so for most, it's a waste of time, money and resources
I got literally almost 100 18 to 22 year old smoking hot strippers from SFL on my iphone contacts, almost everyone has a FB account
it's for KIDS, granted in that market (under 23) the ones I know (18 to 22 YO strippers) are the top 'earners' on FB, but other than strippers in that age range, the rest have no money, and strippers usually blow their money on leech/pimp boyfriends and or drugs
so no 'mass appeal' for most companies
who does DNF want to hit with a 'fb' page?
sure some young domainers with no money that are in that age range may use it (under 25), but most do not who are 'players'
we maintain this garbage for a few clients, mostly bands and or quasi celebs we do sites for, and it's only because it's what everyone else does so they want it
business clients we have more control over, they say facebook or twitter we embarass them, give them the numbers, look you want to hit your 12 year old daughter as a consumer, use that garbage
garbage is garbage and for most 'businesses' that whole social scene is garbage
kinda like the old hamburger joints of the 50's where all the kids would hang out, only it's a global hamburger joint
if the goal is to get a ton of no money kids involved with domains, great then, if you want to make money on domains, those sites are not where you want to be
get some press on business sites
dominate ppc
dominate organic seo for your industry
that's how a 'business' hits a real consumer not under 22 year olds that are 'socializing'
IMO
