Re: Domain Retriever problem

You can click on the DNF banner that says "Domain Research Tool" or contact me via luc@lezon.com or PM. Please provide me with the approximate purchase date of the DR software.

I just checked mine (haven't used it for awhile) and it didn't work. I totally agree with you, if we buy a software then it should work or they should have said from beginning that they are renting it to us for a limited time and not selling it.
If we buy the domain research tool, how do we know that for how long this is going to work before we have to buy something else?

Re: Domain Retriever problem

First: I don't know of too many applications that run properly for years without upgrades. Upgrades usually cost money, and these expenses are passed on to the users in the form of “Updates”. For the last 3 years all DR updates were free. For the last 3 years, DR included Exody lists which if obtained separately would cost $600/year. Since DR utilized obsolete SE technologies, it would cost more to upgrade the software than to create a new application from scratch.

Second: DR was updated SEVERAL MONTHS AGO. The new version no longer checked the serial number so that it would work independent of DR servers, which are now disabled. This update was available for at least 3 months, and assuming you had "check for updates" on, you were told about the update every time the software launched. Those users who bothered to update when the update was released enjoyed some minor improvements and minor bug repairs. This is why DR works for some people, and not for others.

Third: If you have purchased DR in the last 3 months, you’ll receive a D.R.T. upgrade free of charge. If you have purchased DR in the last 6 months, the upgrade will cost $49. No other special pricing will apply.

D.R.T. took over two months to create and test. We’ve added countless new features since the release. Please don’t expect to receive a free copy just because you bought DR a year or two or three ago. This is not going to happen.

Best Regards,
Luc L.

If you are buying a software, the upgrade is a choice and it doesn't mean that old versions should stop working. There are still people who use window 98, does it mean that win 98 should stop working because win xp is available now?

I haven't use your software for awhile ( I wasn't very happy with it even when it worked) but I don't agree with your policy regarding upgrades. Have new versions, upgrades and charge people as much as you like since it is your company right to do so but disabling old versions to force people to buy new version is the wrong way of doing business.

You make the matter worse by your attitude that seems to blame the customers for your wrong business methods.

We didn't disable the old version. The server it was hosted on is no longer online and the software is trying to verify your serial number with that server. The software has been retired, meaning that it's no longer sold or supported. However, it is still functional.

The software does work, if you have the latest version.

Re: Domain Retriever problem

The login box on www.droplists.net doesn't work. You can just put anything or leave it blank and it logs you in.

yep. i think i spoke with you a few years ago about this. the only other way would be to create individual accounts for everyone on DNF. it's a bit too late for that now, so the password prompt is there to deter people who may not be DNF members.
