Domains for Sale - Fixed Price and Offers BEING RE-Done.

Why do we have this 'Fixed Price and Offers'?

Aren't they contradictory?

Fixed Prices or Offers?

Maybe 2 seperate sections need to be setup.

One for domains with fixed prices and one for people that have no clue what they want.

I just think we should have 2 seperate areas as these don't really go together.

Isn't an offer section like an auction... somebody posts a name and people bid/offer money for it.

So why have offers?

I am tired of strings that say here's my domain, make an offer. It makes no sense.

Either it's an auction or it's a fixed price or it's juat an appraisal.

Why have an offers section, is an offers section just to feed someones ego?

Why would someone post a domain they have no intention of selling as a fixed price or an auction?

Is that just not an appraisal?

What type of person posts a domain like brownshoes.com and says just make offers? what are the hoping to accomplish? either the domain is for sale or its not.

My rant...

Any comments... To be fixed price domains are getting buried by these so called offer domains.

True.

Separate threads would allow domains with a fixed price to remain "more visible." Many of the "offers" domains just seem to "clog up" the main sales thread.

Re: Domains for Sale - Fixed Price and Offers BEING RE-Done.

Agree, I always was confused by that as they are so contrary to each other. I have posted about how dumb it is for a seller to not post prices for ages. If you are a buyer your blind offfer is almost always a waste of everyone's time as the sellers expectatiions are for a deep pocket end-user coming along so he quotes a very high price which turns the buyer off and the deal is dead from the start almost all the time since the buyer does not bother to pursue it. Been there and done that many times.

The categories should definately be seperated. Once they are I would likely not look at the Offer forum as rarely have any interest in buying if there is no price listed.

Agree....I also think it will create more sales...

Offers would still be welcome if seller allowed this in thread...I assume...but a price would be stated. In other words...XXXXXX.com $500 ... offers welcome.

Would eliminate the...."I was going to develop this but thought I'd consider offers" posts in the fixed price forum...
No one is being excluded in the process, as there will be a forum for both, but I think you might see more priced names being offered for sale...

Good idea Adam....

Re: Domains for Sale - Fixed Price and Offers BEING RE-Done.

Yes, I agree. If there is a price listed, then usually the seller aggressively wants the sale, but without the price it seems that most listings are just appraisal requests or fishing expeditions.

Re: Domains for Sale - Fixed Price and Offers BEING RE-Done.

Here's my plug for redoing the sales area

Fixed price sales, auctions, best offers and a seperate forum for country codes

Re: Domains for Sale - Fixed Price and Offers BEING RE-Done.

I dont think offers are exactly a bad thing but there should be at least one price listed, like a minimum price, so as not to waste time and posts because you know someone no matter how good the name is going to say 10.00 and then another 11.00 and so on, with a minimum price set that you will not consider anything below, then it cuts out alot of the fluff posts

I dont sell alot of domains, i sell more complete sites but 90% of my website sales are on "offers" , I list a minimum I would consider and a BIN, most of the time the price ends somewhere between the two and I sell, but an "offer" type listing protects me incase I feel like the offers are not what I was looking for, doing it auction style commits me to a sell, my way may not be the best way but its worked well over multiple forums

Re: Domains for Sale - Fixed Price and Offers BEING RE-Done.

Good idea. I can see situations where both types of forum are useful, but splitting them clears up a lot of confusion. In essence the "fixed offers" forum has all domains pre-priced at BIN.

Re: Domains for Sale - Fixed Price and Offers BEING RE-Done.

Another excellent reform, Adam
Create 2 sections in the Domains For Sale
"Fixed Price" and "Offers"
Hope you can do it quickly

Been thinking that for so long, Edwin put into exacts words what I was thinking about this.. not minimum offer but bin prices needed... else it goes back to "make offer" if it's just a minimum price.. thanks.

Re: Domains for Sale - Fixed Price and Offers BEING RE-Done.

I think it's a great idea to split it up. I get lost in the many threads with the "offers" too. Great idea, hope it's soon!

Wow Hurray ! Tomorrow. Looking forward to it!

Re: Domains for Sale - Fixed Price and Offers BEING RE-Done.

I had time tonight so this is done already.

Please be patient as it will take time for most users to notice the change.

We will have to shuffle threads back and forth until most get it.

Thanks to those that responded and if you have any suggestion to make the instructions clearer please post here.

Re: Domains for Sale - Fixed Price and Offers BEING RE-Done.

Domains for Sale - Fixed Prices on dnforum.com. This forum is for the sale of domain names with a fixed price. All domains without a fixed price will be deleted. One thread per 24 hours is permitted.

Maybe should be...
Threads containing names with no price will be deleted.

Would prevent threads with 7 names .... only 4 priced....
Save the mods from deleting the names with no price.....The thread would be deleted...

That said....I think most here are going to understand what the rules are and not bother trying to bend them....
