I think smaller, static images would be just fine and less distracting. Like in the previous version

LOL so we have a choice, keep the avatar and look weird or lose it and become stream line :(
Id prefer a Canadian flag with .com
True, the TLD should not be representative of the country - it might be taken as an endorsement by that member of a TLD. E.g. .us versus .com
How about a set without the ISO code?
This is a premade set of images we are using, not able to modify all 300 flags.
