Today we will do away with 5 sections on the forum in favor of an EBAY type auction setup.
The 'Domain Name Auctions' will move to a EBAY style auction system.
The 'IDN Auctions' will move to a EBAY style auction system and have it's own section.
The 'Website Auctions' will move to a EBAY style auction system and have it's own section.
The 'Domains for Sale - Offers Wanted' will now also move to an EBAY style auction setup. You can set the opening bid at $1 so you are still open to take offers or set a BIN price.
The 'F$ Auction' will move to a EBAY style auction system and have it's own section.
All current posts will not be deleted but will be merged with other sections.
There will also be a Live online auction taking place in the chat room the first Sunday of every month. This will start in July 06.
Here's the new auction site populated with a few and ready to go in about an hour.

Looks good. Can we set a reserve for the auctions? I couldn't see anything in there.
Got it.Originally Posted by DotComGod

This is a very good change, what is the difference between this setup and the old auctions?

Wow, this is really cool. I like the showcase on the homepage. Just added my first auction myself. DNF is really getting better every day. Thanks, Adam!![]()

What was the matter with the old selling format? There's a big difference between wanting to solicit offers and running an auction.
If I wanted an ebay style format, I'd go to Ebay.

[QUOTE=Leading Names]Most in offers wanted were like this:Originally Posted by DotComGod

which with a starting point makes them an auction...
Or they were like this:

which in my opinion need a starting point, even if its $1.

Most have told me they ignore threads like this:
http://www.dnforum.com/f283/emp4-com-thread-156299.html
as they need a starting point, which makes them an auction.
If you want a section where people can just post things with no prices and not much motivation to sell, let me know and we can call it, 'the time waster'.
I have had this discussion too many times, either people want to sell or they don't, I don't think having a starting price of $1 is too much to ask.

And as far as soliciting offers, you can start at $1 and set your buy now price at 1 million and decide on offers in between.
The domains for sale offers wanted was more like an apparaisal, based on stats, a small % of names sold compared to domains for sale, fixed price.

But many people list multiple domains per thread, seeking offers on individual names. That's not possible with the new style system.Originally Posted by DotComGod

There's a typo in the script. It says Enter "Maximium" bid, instead of "Maximum".

Very b Good!
Is there a way of finding 'Domain Name Auctions' closing soon?
The sort options ,while extensive , seem to preclude a sort by end date

Actually, your thread (follow link above for screenshot) demonstrates many things…
1. Buyers do respond to those types of threads (me included). You had 26 replies to that thread.
2. That same thread would take 10 separate ads using the new system, instead of one.
3. Sellers are not always motivated to sell – this is often the case with top quality names, and is not necessarily a bad thing.
4. Money is often not the only factor.
