Major Changes to DNforum.com!
Dnforum has always taken a business like approach to the domain industry. In continuing to head down the business path, I feel at this time I needed to replace the current moderator system with paid in-house admin staff.
I have now assigned 4 Full Time paid admins plus myself to manage day to day activities of Dnforum. The admins and their responsibilities are listed below.
GiantDomains- Responsible for day to day activities of the forum.
ImpactAdmin- Responsible for day to day activities of the forum.
TechAdmin- Responsible all technical issues related to the forum.
NetGeek- Responsible for day to day activities of the forum and Forum Advisory Board (This will be explained later in this post).
DotComGod – Responsible for overall well being of the forum as well as constantly bringing new features and benefits to members.
I do appreciate all the efforts put forth by the moderator team that was previously in place. Their contributions have not gone unnoticed and I personally have greatly appreciated all the hard work they have done to help build this forum to where it is today. I will be adding more paid administrators as we continue to grow and I hope they will consider that position if it is offered to them.
I want to be clear on this next point, the removal of the moderator team may look negative to some members but this is in no way related to moderator issues or performance. This is solely based on a business direction I need to take as I take the forum to the next level.
Under the new system, there will be a Forum Advisory Board ( FAB ) setup to suggest any changes, new features, directions the forum should take. The forum advisory board will consist of all active members with 2000+ posts. Once you reach 2000 posts you will automatically be given access to the FAB. I will also be personally adding some people that I feel would make great contributions to this group. Participation is not mandatory but if you wish a voice in the future direction of this forum it would be a great area to contribute to. The Forum Advisory Board will be headed up by Netgeek and I will be very active their as well.
I am planning a major advertising campaign starting in May 2005 as well a press release due out in the next 2 weeks to all major newspapers, magazines and radio stations.
Changes will take effect immediately.
Please make a special not of my cell phone number and email should you have any questions I will be available most of the time to help.

less conflict of interest issues now. while i believe mods and admins should
know the area in which they work, i also believe that they should not be
as heavily involved in buying and selling in that same area.
good luck

Yes, good move. Like I said, using paid in-house staff instead of voluntary mods is a necessary step to take DNForum to the next level. And you have my full support for going ahead with this business-oriented model. :thumbs up:
Profoundly influenced by #Bauhaus, @Nameslave unrepentantly embraces #Minimalism in his #multimedia portfolio. His early works include an experimental adaptation of Chekhov’s Cherry Orchard inspired at least partly by Robert Fripp. His totally irrelevant M.Ed. dissertation examines Organizational Culture and Change Management.
Great move Adam! You always knew my position on these issues. Best of luck as always.
Ya, wow, i had missed out on alot, i had'nt been able to come online for a while due to school and such, alot has changed, for the better i see and hope, wishing good luck and hope that this forum keeps growing, and i think a paid position is usually better motivated than a voluntary one.Originally Posted by ClassicNames.com

I agree that it is a good move and a natural progression for the forum as it continues to set new standards in professionalism and benefits offered to its members. At the same time I would like to thank all of the moderators who have volunteered their time in the past. IMO their contributions were a major factor in helping DNF achieve a level of success that now makes it possible to have paid employees shoulder the workload.

I'm all for it. I see great things in the future for this place, and look forward to being a part of it.
let me help you out of them MD .... *wicked grin* Now that I'm not a moderator anymore I can be my wild and crazy self... oh wait... i'm always my wild and crazy self...
from someone who was a bit overwhelmed by the responsibility of mod'ding this forum as a volunteer, i am very pleased to see adam make the next step... it was the most obviously right one.

P.S. I enjoyed my run as a Mod. It was a great experience and very insightful seeing first hand the complexity and varied difficulties of mod'ding a forum board, which probably very few members fully realize how tough the job is, especially as an unpaid volunteer!

I agree with all of you...as well as Adam
I like the move and am sure DNF will move to a new level soon...I will be away on vacation for a week but can't wait to see this place when I get back![]()
This will be, yet again, a positive step for the site. The previous and current moderators helped make this site what it is today and we are simply ready to take it to the next level.
Should you have any comments or questions, feel free to contact me anytime via email or msn.

As all members who have moderated know, it can be an involved and somethimes thankless job. Much kudos go to the excellent team that has carried it this far!
Moving to paid mod/admins, with direct accountability is a wise move. Seeing that the former mod team has come out in unanimous support is evidence that it is a sound business decision.
It has been a privledge and a pleasure to serve this community, and I will be looking forward to it's inevitable future growth.
