Just my 2 cents...but it kind of stinks that us plats who have been on these forums for a long time and provide value can't receive an invite for exclusive, but some wingnut who's never been here before gets the exclusive membership free.
I realize it's a membership drive, but it reminds me of the AT&T commercial where the new girl in 1st grade gets a brand new super duper art kit while the other kids have the crappy art kits. She only got her "kit" (representing a new cell phone) because she was new customer to cell phone company...but the loyal customers still have their crappy kits (old phones).
.
Ditto. Why give afree Exclusive to someone new only? This is the risk of zealous marketing and promos in that often you may end up alienating loyal old clients who deserve a break and good deal much more than new ones.Originally Posted by TopNames.com
I have seen this happen in many business promotions and been there done that myself too. For example, look how WildWest has in effect alienated some of their long time resellers by offering a better deal to a new customer.
It reminds me of my local auto shop who offers free oil changes and tire rotation only to new customers during July but makes old established customers pay and say's on the coupon new customers only. Or my cell phone company marketing a free $289 phone to new cust only but making someone who paid $289 for a phone a few mos ago when they became a client pay again if they lose the phone rather than get a free cell phone.
Hey Top and Real
I hear what you all are saying. I'm glad they are making positive changes from a partnership and membership standpoint. Hopefully you guys upgrade to exclusive at some point. It is a very good bargain in my opinion. Take care.
Hey Guys,Originally Posted by RealNames
Reading your ideas I understand where you are coming from. All members on the forum are treated equal and we provide new features for all membership levels.
Dnf invites were provided for all users to benefit from including past customers and new customers. We are not only offering DNF invites for new customers. All users benefit.
Just as you guys upgraded to platinum, other members upgraded to exclusive paying a fee for that level membership. We are obligated to provided features as there is a reason we provide different level memberships. All users have the opportunity to upgrade and benefit from the new features.
Remember along with the forum being a great domain place to talk, we also have to be able to run the forum. Whether we like it or not, it is a business and in order to keep this forum alive we must offer the ourselves to generate a small income to keep the forum alive.
Over the next few weeks we will add many benefits. We are not done yet.
Thanks
Huseyin
Some more questions...
From the description at http://www.dnforum.com/exmember.htm
1)1. Exclusive invitation for you to provide someone of your choice to receive equal level membership.
If i am Exclusive Member, I will have a free Exclusive Invite as mention. Then i invite a new member, he becomes Exclusive, does the number 1 benefits him too, ie. he get a free exclusive invite. Probably you need to reword and add that those that got their free exclusive membership does not enjoy the free invite to others.
2)
Now i am plat member, I send the free plat invite. Then i upgrade to Exclusive, do i also get a free exclusive invite?
Sorry, just wanted to clarify more, probably there are others who are also interested to know these questions.
1- Only the member with the original invite gets the invite so in other words if you invite someone they do not get an FREE invite.Originally Posted by skylight
2- If you use your invite at Platinum it's gone. So if you are going to upgrade to Platinum, save the FREE invite and it will upgrade to Exclusive when you do.
Hope this helps.

Thanks.
Thanks for your feedback and yes I agree the forum is much improved since you guys purchased it, especially recently and is a great asset. I also realize this is a membership drive and you need to make money running this site. However, can't you make most of your profit from advertising like all the banner ads and affiliate programs such as your new WildWest acct?Originally Posted by impactadmin
However, I still do not understand why some 'Wingnut' (cool word used by someone else), who may know almost nothing and may contribute nothing to the forum gets in the door free of any cost but long established valuable contributors and dnf supporters need to pay $350 for Exclusive? It just makes no sense at all.
As far as any benefit to me in giving away a free invite I don't get that? First of all not too many domainers know others in the biz, especially well enough to give away $350, and even if you do know someone in the biz why would you want to give him a $350 gift when you had to pay $350 cash yourself, and it may even be the gift recipient is in a better income bracket and financial condition than you are?
It makes great sense to increase the membership here rather than just boost a membership level from existing members - increased membership benefits the owner and serves to benefits us all by having more buyers available on the forum.Originally Posted by RealNames
Of course no one has said that you have to give away your invite - if you wish you can sell it and in that way make some cash - however you cannot sell it here, only at other locations like WHT, ebay etc.
How much do you estimate they would go for on eBay?Originally Posted by Mr Webname

plats are going for around $25(mostly) - $30 on WHTOriginally Posted by RealNames

I don't know about the edit button, I can see mine okay.
I understand this logic perfectly. Why should the forum give any member a benefit way out of proportion to the investment that member has made in the forum? Setting aside the concept of active participation for the moment, platinum members have invested $50 here, and for that money they have all the benefits their membership level provides, PLUS they have just been give a $50 forum gift certificate to pass along, with the only real restriction being that it cannot be used to upgrade a current member.
To complain that this is not good enough is a good definition of looking a gift horse in the mouth. If you want to be an exclusive member, there are certainly ways to raise the capital (sell domains for DNF$, trade labor for $DNF, dig deep or work a little harder for a few weeks). But to be disappointed that something which didn't even exist a week ago is not going to give you a valuable upgrade for free, seems a bit out of line.
Of course, if you don't want to pay full price, you could always bid on mine
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...e=STRK:MESE:IT
No bids yet, but several people are watching it. It WILL sell - and you could get a discounted exclusive membership in less than 2 days!
I don't understand YOUR logic in saying that at all. It seems you have the logic reversed and twisted. The recipient of the free invite (be it exclusive or platinum) has contributed absolutely nothing to this forum and the wingnut may never contribute anything and may never even do any posts but he gets a free ride. However, the current member may be a heavy contributor with many knowledge based posts so why would he be getting a benefit out of proprtion? That logic makes no sense, IMO.Originally Posted by MovieDomains
The "free" invite is a promotional tool for DNF, not a membership perk for us...let's call a spade a spade.
I'm not complaining, I just pointed out something that is the focus of a major cell phone company...which is giving new customers more benefits than existing customers.
BTW, how come no one has address the DNLists.net issue? This was something I found useful, but no longer works and does not look like it's going to be fixed.

The perk (from the forum's perspective) is for the invitor, not the invitee.
