Just reading this thread is reason enough to leave the political section closed, imho.
Sad that this is one of the busiest threads here for along time though.
All offers good for 72 hours except running auctions

You might want to go back a little, the name calling began in post #67... Seems you were far too busy brown nosing to notice.
Please vote Republican in 2012, America can not sustain another 4 years
of Liberal policies that are fiscally and socially destroying the country..
No, that is not my 'opinion'. But thanks anyway.
In context of what I typed, it leads to the question asked. How does this (politics section) benefit DNF?
Out of context, ya, kind of funny I guess.
On point, your reply is the exact issue of this thread. Some people are tired of the incessant circular arguments and the rephrasing of other members comments to instigate reaction or opinion.
This pattern of reply or instigation has no purpose at DNF, with minor exception of temporary entertainment for individuals ego's.

Likewise... A few members who I considered as friends at one time, I will have nothing to do with them today. And it has NOTHING to do with disagreements in political, but rather more to do with the vial attacks on members character, the way they intimidate and use members as punching bags to prop themselves up, the arrogant behavior and lack of empathy for other people, It's disgusting.
I would much rather be strongly disliked by these members than be associated with them.. I burned my "Cool Gang" membership a long time ago and I'm happy for it, The business relationships I have with other members on this forum and the private messages of support I receive is what keeps me here, NOT THEM.... This forum has a lot of very smart and good hearted people, doesn't matter what political ideology they have either, these are members who have the ability to respect opinion and criticism, instead of reacting to it with anger and humiliation.... They have class, something the "Cool Gang" NEVER had.
It was not taken out of context at all, you clearly wrote; "If someone using google might find a politics post in their search results, ends up coming to DNF just to have fun in the politics section"
Considering that person would have to PAY to be a member in order to post on the forum, it's very unlikely it would happen.. Is a matter a fact, it hasn't happened yet so why would it happen now? If you can cite one instance where a non-domainer disrupted the political section since DNF began charging for memberships, I'll listen.
And I notice your singling out the Political section, If it can happen in Political it can also happen in Sports, Humor or any other section that does not pertain to domains, Is it your position that these forums also be closed down because of potential disruption from a Google search?
For the same reasons these sections benefit DNF;
Football - NFL,
Soccer,
Baseball,
Golf,
Auto Racing,
Hockey - NHL
Humor

I agree. Many of the posters in this thread are the same ones who poisoned the political forum.
Even in a thread announcing the closure, they can't stay away from politics.
Most times the political threads devolved into name calling, false information, fear mongering, racial/ethnic/religious insults, and hatred in general.
There are plenty of places online to discuss that stuff.
I don't think it needs a spot on a domain forum.
Good riddance.

Would like to point out that no one is arguing politics here. Its more like a bar fight.
When people just want to fight, any reply no matter how polite only adds fuel to the fire and makes you part of it.
Closing the political/contraversial section down is fine by me, but I think you will find the problem just moves into other threads.

My thoughts exactly. I remember the days (about 6 to 12 yrs ago) when domain discussions were the most active and popular threads (and I don't mean sales like the situation now where the forums are dominated by for-sale threads and sometimes politics and misc rubbish). Talking about the glory days days when forum members shared mutual knowledge and information as they did years ago. Those days are gone forever![]()
About time to close the thread about the politics section closing![]()
Argument: This is a domain forum.
Counter point: Absolutely. A political section wasn't going to change the fact.
Argument: Political section caused a scuffle between members.
Counter Point: Moderate. Moderate. Moderate. Enforce order. The troublemakers didn't give up. Why should you? Don't pull down the whole section and deprive members who took the section seriously.
Argument: Same topics were created over and over.
Counter Point: Refer to similar/appropriate thread. Then close new thread.
Argument: Democrats vs Republicans ad nauseam
Counter Point: Isn't that the nature of American politics? For haywire threads, just moderate.
To be candid, I think it is a tad too cynical for folks who cared little for the section to rejoice over its termination. I understand it is way easier to close the section. But come on...Why was the section created in the first place?
Now I can't start a thread on the "price of tea in China or why Occupy makes the Tea Party look like a toothless old man".
