Can we at least use this thread to talk about politics?![]()
We may reopen after the election!
AWESOME NEWS.
Over the last few months I have noticed a lot of new activity there (usually started and propelled beyond reason by the same 3 people). I always found it very annoying to have so many political threads to scroll through every day (usually on top due to people fighting in them and the constant bumps) when this is a domain name forum.
This is a place for business, not political drama. As you said... Time to get back to work!
Thank You,
Luc

NameNewsletter.com - free lists of available domain names
ZoneFiles.net (beta) - ccTLD and gTLD droplists
not so much "my" rights, as it's not really a right
it's more like a left
the section was "left" by itself, to defend and depend on itself
it was "left" in nature, in that, by conception, implementation and continuation...it remained "left" of domaining
in a "left" world, it's hard for some to act "right"
to agree to be able to disagree, yet lacking ability to be respectful enough, to respect a place for you to argue.

You have people posting entire articles in that section. You may get into legal hassles by allowing that.

It is a shame but if shutting it down means a better quality forum then you did the right thing.

Politics caused this. Gee whiz.
#OccupyDNF - 1% loses right to rant about politicians
Good decision! Adam for president!![]()
Wow. VERY good timing. Guess what, I was actually deciding (just over this past weekend) whether to a) start a thread complaining, or b) simply not visit DNForum again, because a series of hate-inciting threads (which borderlines Canadian criminal code of hate crime at best) were being allowed (or not being disallowed).
As a student of public administration (and political science), I always have mixed feelings when political discussion is banned, forums after forums, resulting from not having enough spare resources for "off-topic" sections. To be honest, serious but civil political debates are possible with a combination of qualified moderators and consistantly strict but reasonable moderation.
Yes, there are a few outliners left and right (yes, pun intended) who resort to little else but throwing insults at each other, which basically makes the political section totally useless for the rest. I for one have already stopped replying to those threads even when the topic is of interest to me (like #OccupyWallSt). I could understand there are short term agendas because this (or 2012) is an election year, but I have definitely seen better handles (operatives) elsewhere.
Profoundly influenced by #Bauhaus, @Nameslave unrepentantly embraces #Minimalism in his #multimedia portfolio. His early works include an experimental adaptation of Chekhov’s Cherry Orchard inspired at least partly by Robert Fripp. His totally irrelevant M.Ed. dissertation examines Organizational Culture and Change Management.
