blah... the idea that I thought was great was reducing the platinum 24 hour restriction to 23 hours... I was NOT arguing for lifting the ban for platinums, as you assumed or implied... instead, just to reduce the restriction to 23 hours.
It wouldn't create more spam, it would just allow platinum members to post at a regular time everyday, instead of constantly being pushed back....
I understand you have to create value for the exclusives so that people will upgrade from platinum to exclusive, but doesn't that also mean you should also create value in the platinum membership to encourage people to upgrade from gold to platinum?
Also, saying "if you want something, pay for it" is ridiculous. Just because I agreed to pay X number of dollars for Y service doesn't mean I should always pay for additional features. Your concept of "if you want something, pay for it" would also apply to the exclusives (if it was a valid concept), unless a membership agreement here said "As an exclusive, you're entitled to occasional value-adds" and it didn't say something similar in Platinum. That would be like saying you should pay every time DCG adds value to the exclusive membership. Want the right to spam, but you bought a membership at X dollars before that feature was added? Oh well, now you gotta pay for it.
There is something to be said for adding value at ALL levels of a forum for the forum's reputation and overall atmosphere. This forum has done a great job of accomodation and value-creation in the past, and I have faith they will do so going forward.
