Could you please confirm whether this would apply retro-actively? And if so, would you be re-funding the membership payments in full? I'd be happy to leave the forums for 1 month (until I turn 18), although not if I didn't get any sort of compensation for being temporarily banned (despite having 42+ positive transactions here)
Also this poll as for under 17s... now people are talking about 18 and under. Which is it?
Thanks,
Tristan Perry

I became a member here when I was 15 - I've made dozens and dozens and transactions on this forum and never had a problem. Of course there will always be young teenagers who try to scam people and do stupid crap, but then again there are plenty of older members who do the same thing.
What's next - saying you aren't allowed to do business on DNForum if you live in certain countries? Nigeria? Indonesia? Russia? China? - where does the discrimination end?
I voted NO mainly from a CYOA (Cover Your Own A$$) standpoint. Under 18 in many places (including the US) do not have to be held accountable for their actions. I could get scammed and there isn't much that could be done about it. Yes, I could go after the parents but that is a long shot.
It is sad to say that, though, since many people under 18 have contributed a lot to these forums, I think the current <18 crowd should be allowed to stay and do businesses as long as people understand the risks.

YES, because I started in the domain busienss at age 17. I might've even been registered here at 17.
Also, anyone that is under 18 and wants to be a member, is a member here. Just like some people here mentioned, they were here since they were 15, 16..
What if you're 17 and are a full time developer/domainer?...
I think some people are reading this the wrong way. I think there are many great under 18 years in here now and I believe they should be grandfathered in but new rules should apply to new applicants. It's not whether an under 18 year old can be a good business person it's whether they can legally be bound to their actions at that age. It's like asking Visa to not discriminate and give you a credit card because your a good business man or women. It's not discrimination, it's a matter of protection for both parties in a business transaction. Both parties should be of legal age so that they are able to be responsible for their own actions. It won't make either party more honest or a better business person just more accountable.

sounds like a resounding NO to me
from the legal standpoint, for sure I'll have to vote no - however , it will be discriminatory not to let someone 17 or under not to participate in the forums, how about if the admin creates something like the "Underage Forum" and whoever is that age, can do business there, with a legal disclaimer, informing people that whoever visit or does any business there is a minor, it can be used as a training tool for the future domainers, and legally people are bind to follow the sub-forum rules ..
Just an Idea ....
Neo -
Bank verification system would be much easier, since anyone under 18 can get a bank account in US/Canada.
Edit: Never mind, not even Credit Card verification would work, since some people might use VCCs.
Hmm....
Mail Verification could work a bit, but it would take too long and would cost too much to send all the letters.

The need for a screening process has been there for quite some time. I think the straw that broke the camel's back is the latest mega-scam involving 9MM who claims to be 16 years old.
my vote:no .
