"Voters: 0. You may not vote on this poll"
No.
In the UK at least they cannot agree to a contract so they can legally take your money without any sort of repercussion. The law would say "you shouldn't enter into agreements with minors". If the <18yo's are unhappy then they should speak to their government.
"Voters: 1. You may not vote on this poll" - Still broken :(
I can't vote either.
I would have to say their age should be displayed in their profile as there are members under 18 that I would do business with ... do you have a "maybe" field for your poll ??

Note:My posted Sales Prices are valid for 3 Days only
Most my domains listed for sale are available at sedo.com
i say no, unless you force under 18 to get DNF verified with proper parents info so there is a paper trail on how to contact their parents. (price of doing business if under 18)
I wish this poll was a little more Clear.
It states in the poll: Should Teens 18 years old be allowed to do business here?
But then in the first post it says: Should Teens UNDER 18 years old be allowed to do business here?
Those are two different questions if you ask me...
I feel if you are 18, Yes you can conduct business on this forum. 17 and under can not. If you can Vote at 18 and have your say in government, I see no reason why you can not conduct business.
So it should be worded, Should people 17 and under be allowed to conduct business here?

The under 18 year olds could provide the name of an over 18 year old who could take responsibility for them. They would face the legal repercussions if the buyer/seller defaults in a deal.
What if the parent of a 15 year old finds out that you have bought a domain for less that what he thinks it is worth, they could take the domain back in court by arguing that the minor was not capable of entering into the contract. They would not have to refund the money either. Even if the 15 year old thought the price was fair, the law says they are not even in the position to decide that.
Can an under 18 own a domain in the first place anyway?
I started my first business when I was 13 -- so I very well know the itch that teen entrepreneurs have to be given the same opportunities as the older entrepreneurs. However, another aspect to think over is that people younger than 18 can NOT get into legal-contracts.
Since we are a business forum, we would probably be encouraging illegal dealings or really complex situations -- as mikedee pointed out above -- if the member does not disclose his age and gets into contact without the consent of an adult. So, as much as I would hate to vote to allow teen entrepreneurs, I'd vote against it seeing our specific situation.
I am Awesome!
NO, unless you have a verifiable authorization form from their legal guardian on file making them responsible for any bs. I think it's great for youngsters to learn the value of free commerce, but somebody other than moderaters need to make sure they keep their nose clean.
But will it stand valid in any court? =)verifiable authorization form from their legal guardian on file making them responsible for any bs.
I am Awesome!
I'm sorry if I'm stepping on anyone's toes here, but I think that you should be at least 18 years of age when you deal with any business involving money.
I do know a couple of people under 18 here that I know are reliable and trustworthy persons though, TristanPerry being one of them.
BTW, why can't I vote?
how are you gonna know, unless they state their true age anyway?
The Bids For Kids Charity Domain Auction is happening right now! Only until Oct. 3rd:
Go to http://www.bidjit.com
Im 17, so i have to go with yes.
There are some teenagers who are responsible enough to do business.
Im one of them.
I have completed all my deals, if i was the buyer or seller, one transaction i put the wrong name of the domain, someone bought it for $55 and since it was the wrong domain he wanted his money back. I could of just taken the money but i gave it back.
Out of curiosity, how come I'm not allowed to vote?
If a flat out, general question yes or no only answer, then I'll have to vote no (sorry, but the few immature bad apples ruin it for the rest).
I'll assume by "doing business" you mean buy and sell domains?
Sadly, though, there are a few (very small percentage) of people under 18 who are mature enough to handle the business but not enough for me to give a blanket "yes".
So, I'll have to vote "No".

Before becoming a member you need to make sure they are 18 years or older.
Since they are paying, you need to make sure they are old enough to pay.
If not some parent is going to come and sue someday.
If the kid waste lot of money buying useless domains etc.
