We apologize for the outage but It was out of our control!

Profoundly influenced by #Bauhaus, @Nameslave unrepentantly embraces #Minimalism in his #multimedia portfolio. His early works include an experimental adaptation of Chekhov’s Cherry Orchard inspired at least partly by Robert Fripp. His totally irrelevant M.Ed. dissertation examines Organizational Culture and Change Management.
I even suffered withdrawl as a user not as the owner...
I missed the threads!
I will be arranging today for a mirror server with another company to avoid this in future.

Here I thought it might have been that DNF uses enom dns. That enom cname change sure messed me up on a few sites. Good to see the forum back.
Sounds like a very good idea - it was a long time!Originally Posted by DotComGod

Most of you domainers know www.DNForum.com has been dead for a while.
Rumors on other sites say it is a DOS attack or a hardware problem.
Others say their DNS info doesn't look right since it goes to a .cx tld

Great also to see that everything appears to be intact on the site.
Wow... Even though I'm a newbie around here... I... I... felt... lonely without DNForum.... I crawled up into a ball.. and... and... (sniffle).. cried...
LoL, I'm glad it's back up. The only problem for me was that I couldn't check any of my PM's to get graphics work done for people. Good idea about the mirror server also!

A decent data center would have enough redundancy built in that a storm would not cause that kind of downtime.
No apology necessary. I just hope that all is well with the time sensitive aspects of the board and that no one was overly inconvenienced by auction times etc. Although it was amusing to see the doctors of doom forecasting (hoping for??) DNF's demise, it's good to be back.

Looks like DNForum is either hosted by Interland and/or DialToneInternet - oh my oh my ... anyways, hope DNForum didn't sign a long-term contract ... a data center going down due to a storm - I could understand perhaps a *direct hit* from a hurricane or tornado, etc ... but otherwise, there's no real excuse at all.
My guess is that DNForum's data center didn't have a properly functioning UPS and/or the data lines coming in were not truly redundent.
Do some research on Rackspace, Verio, Pair, etc ... on a related topic, stick with hosts with data centers in California, Virginia, or best Texas.
