If a website is #1 on google and your forward that page to another, will it lose its placement? I am asking because I want to change the look, feel, and usability of the site but I do not want to lose the placement on ithe search engines.
Is their a way to see what a website has been ranked in the past on google?

DO NOT forward web pages. Google either:
Won't index them
OR
Ban your website or web page
Don't risk it if you're ranked #1 for a search term. :| Either change the web page entirely, or make a duplicate web page with a different name.
Do a 301 redirect
 301....
Don't forward it and make your changes slowly (so if you lose your rankings you can pinpoint exactly which change hurt you.)
