    #1 spot on Google

    So here's my question. I'm starting a blog using my name Clayton Fryar, the ultimate goal of the site is to reach the top spot on google. Is it possible for me to achieve this goal with the Keyword "clayton", even though the domain clayton(dot)com is already in use? Another thing is that some of the sites on google are lower on the page, yet have a higher PR.

    For example.
    clayton(dot)com -> PR3 -> 1st listing on Google
    clayton(dot)edu -> PR6 -> 7th listing on Google

    Anyone care to shed some light on how the actual listing work?

    Thanks in advance

    The way Google lists websites is kind of a mystery, but if you do the right SEO you can get #1 place for "clayton". Although it won't be easy since you've got 36,500,000 results for clayton.

    The PageRank is important, but not the most important thing. If that was the case everyone would only care about getting the higher PageRank they could.

    Try to get as many incoming links as you can (... from related websites), and make sure your blog is interesting, also very important keep posting every day, or at least 3x a week.

    You've already got first place for "Clayton Fryar", and your blog doesn't have anything yet. Oh, and when you get links to you make sure they put "Clayton" as a link, that way will help you getting a nice ranking for "Clayton".

    You'll more than likely hit #1 for your full name much quicker than even making it to the first page with just your first name.

    Thanks for the good tips

    I have #1 for my full name already because I had another blog there previously, but I've scrapped it for this new project.
