    18,300 pages listed in Google.

    Hi all,

I added a dmoz script to my site and Google has now listed 18,300 pages from my site (18,100 being from the dmoz script).

Is this good for the value of my site?

Can anyone shed light on the subject?

It's not bad, but the sheer nature of the site means it's easily done. Get some of the subdirectories some PR and you'll add better value. But as a number, 18k is good and solid.

It's good if you want to be sandboxed for a VERY LONG TIME. I have heard that Google may ban the scaper sites - I would only have 10 - 15% of your sites content with automated content at max.

Can elaborate on 'sandboxed'.. Surely it can't be bad to have the dmoz directory duplicated on sites. I am also getting hits because of this.

Re: 18,300 pages listed in Google.

I've got a couple sites with 500K pages done from a combo of this, articles & RSS feeds.

Never had a problem yet. However, I added them over time and didn't spam the engines. I also added quality links over the years too which I'm sure helps determine "spam" sites in the google algorithms.

I've found you can "get away" with almost anything if you add a little at a time and use good common sense.

Re: 18,300 pages listed in Google.

YES IT CAN - any dupe content will eventually be blocked. G determines which has "priority" then blocks the other. As for the sandbox - it is a process wherby new sites and new links have a "hold" on them. Sites 3-9 months if they play by the rules (which you are not) that prevents them from rising in SERP. Links around 3 months to start adding their PR (this put an added cost on link buying)

I would do as Carlos has done - just go slow and add some real value in there..

Re: 18,300 pages listed in Google.

Many dmoz "clones", as they call, turned PR0 sometime ago, but some didn't. Why? Nobody knows. Maybe if you have additional quality content. One year ago I was going to add the dmoz script too, but I decided not to do it...
