If you've done any grey or black hatting at all, google seems to have it all figured out on this update.

As usual, some gain, some lose, and some stay the same. (Oh ... have I said anything? )
Profoundly influenced by #Bauhaus, @Nameslave unrepentantly embraces #Minimalism in his #multimedia portfolio. His early works include an experimental adaptation of Chekhov’s Cherry Orchard inspired at least partly by Robert Fripp. His totally irrelevant M.Ed. dissertation examines Organizational Culture and Change Management.

Seo terms for how you set up your site for the search engines.

Grey hat = they know that what they are doing is not cricket, but figure that its ok. ie excessive cross linking of sites, spamming tags, keyword stuffing etc

    Thanks! I learned something new!

(i know this no rule of thumb w SEO, but i noticed that some of the simplist sites - are also the highest ranked on google... They must be the only white ones out there in a sea of black and grey...)

PR is overrated, I would be more concerned about any drop in the serps then I would about a PR drop.

    Re: Ack! Google Update!

A few yrs ago I had a number of web-sites which went to PR-0 from PR's 2 3 4 5 for no apparent reason, which was very maddening at the time (after a lot of time and effort getting good PR). From that time on I threw in the towel on GPR, paying little attention to it.

Since then I have observed some sites have very similar traffic during a month with a PR0 or PR1 than the prior month when they were say PR3 or PR4, or vice versa. Perhaps good PR makes a difference as most claim but I have never seen real evidence it does.

I agree, PR seems to be a black art. Some sites with high PR don't seem to deserve it when you look at the number and quality of the back links. How can sites with only 57 back links get a PR6? I have another site with 170 that is a PR4, I know it depends on who is linking to you, but these BL are mainly internal links, so doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

I am putting more effort now into getting sites ranked well in MSN and Yahoo. I think when new MSN search comes out the whole SEO market will change again, just as it has done over the years.

    Regards

    Steve

    Re: Ack! Google Update!

Alot of sites are like that with the no backlinks and high PR because their is so many subpages that when linked to the homepage gives PR to it a lot of little links add up .
