Has anyone heard about this concept?

Adding a Link to Google.com is viewed as favorable by Google.

I often link to Google on informational mini sites if I think this adds value to my site.

Maybe google can work out whether value is being added or if someone is doing something "that they wouldn't do if search engines didn't exist"?

I just had to quote this, because it is probably the dumbest thing i've heard to date. Google does not care about you linking them up, just as they won't boost your rankings, even if you spend $1mio a day on adwords. It's just not how it works. Google is about quality, not about favors. You as a self proclaimed "seo expert" should know this.

I have been designing and developing a website for over (8) years; I have been working with SEO for over 6 years.
That's awesome! I have been developing 2 websites over that period. Does that make me twice as good as you?
Sometimes it is not what you know, it is what do DO NOT know that will surprise you...
That's great as well, thanks for sharing. If you have a quotation site, it will fit right in.

Lmao @ the above post, ah hahaha.

Anyway Mr. "SEO_Expert," no, a link back to Google won't help you. Google's not a search engine you can cheat with.

The search engine GigaBlast used to allow you to "boost" your search engine rankings by placing a link back to them...it was called a "GigaBoost," I don't know if they still allow that feature though, but then again, nobody really uses GigaBlast anymore.

I'd suggest that you check out my link building blog @ Linkative.com and read up on building links etc to naturally improve your search engine rankings. Before browsing through my blog, please read the about page and my introductory post - my content and tips may really help you and your site drastically as these are techniques I've used for some of my websites that achieve well over one thousand unique visitors per day 100% coming from Google alone (just an example).

Learn, and maybe you will become an SEO expert, but right now if you're asking a question like this, you have a bit of learning and experimenting to do.

I have been taking a lot of heat for offering this concept, but it is far from new to me.

I have tested this concept for more that (5) five years now; on more than 25 websites and over 100 web pages.

I will allow you guys to think as you please, I know what the results that I got are.

(by the way, I have found many others that use this concept, I am not the only one.)

    Very Kind Regards,
Linking to a trusted site within your niche/topic can sometimes be helpful, because it can bring a touch of quality to your site. Having said that, as with every piece of search engine advice, people tend to take it to the extreme. If something seems to work, spammers will overdo it to death. What this means is, linking an authority site is not the way to glory alone, this goes for linking Google as well (search query pages as well as their content pages). Sometimes, a well placed link (in great context) to a site with alot of weight, will help theme your site/page. I've tested this myself on several occasions. However, if you overdo it, it will lose effect (like linking alot of sites, instead of a select one or few). Also, a new site with minimal authority linking up a bunch of sites that are trusted, just comes off as spammy. Especially if there is not alot of content.

As I said, Google is about quality. They will look for quality, and award you with traffic if they think you can be trusted. Merely linking Google is not quality. I'm sure you have seen your pages rank over the years, but I highly doubt this is because of you linking up Google.

See, the problem is, IMO, isn't what you think may work (frankly I could care less), but it's that you name yourself "SEO expert" and constantly offer up advice. While advice is great, with a name like that, every newbie out there will take it as solid gold. Another thing: As you point out yourself, this "technique" isn't new. In fact, it's way old (five (5) years, is probably about right). If you've been following the seo realm for a while, you've undoubtly heard of this.
on more than 25 websites and over 100 web pages.
What does that even mean? Do you mean you have 4 pages, per site? Also, you keep mentioning how much you test things. We all test. I test, you test. It's mainly how you learn
(by the way, I have found many others that use this concept, I am not the only one.)
Keep in mind, that just because alot of people are doing it, doesn't mean you should

Keep in mind, it is not what you think, but what you know....

Like many things, it is not what you do, but in fact, how you do it.

Like you, I do you care what anyone thinks about my ideas, I know the truth about what I have done and the results that I got.

Just because you do not know about something, does not mean it is not true.

I was not even going to post the question, but I just thought I would have a good laugh at how many people try to shoot it down.

How can you consider new idea's if you think you know it all? I love people like this.

I do not care how you optimize your own websites, I know what it is like to get 1st place at Google for almost any keyword that I want.

I am sure you think you can do that too... right?

I have been able to archive results that I did not think were possible, I took the time to figure a lot of thing out, I just thought I would share this information, but seems like a lot of these wanna be guru's that think they know everything already. oh well no loss here....

    Oh the irony

Anyway, like I figured you didn't really bring anything new to the table, other than bragging about #1 rankings (obviously, without proof). I've said my piece -- I think people are onto you anyway.

Thanks for also having "figured me out". SEO expert and psychologist, it's the whole package with you

Kind Regards to All, as well

If I post my list, then people complain that I am spamming and promoting myself.

If I do not post a list, then people do not take my word...

HOW CAN I WIN??? I am ether a spammer or a lier... (If you want examples, just ask.)

I sent you a short list of websites that have examples of websites with keywords that are 1st place at Google, Yahoo, and MSN.

    Kind Regards,
Alright, I got your list. With all due respect, the examples you sent me are not exactly proving your point. The few phrases that you claim you can rank, i'll venture a guess and say most probably can. One of the phrases, there are only 328 other sites competing. This is not something I would brag about, as 328 competitors is an extremely low number. In fact, the few phrases you sent me for various sites you've ranked, does not even have enough results in Adwords' KeywordToolExternal tool to show :(

EDIT: For one of your phrases, you only have 6 competitors

No disrespect, but I did not feel the need to "show off" to you.

I sent you a very small list of my personal SEO examples that I put together within a few short minutes.

Why do I want waste my time showing someone examples that is just going to try to pick apart the truth to try and find fault. I know what I can do and I know what I have done.

I sent you a very short list of example and I could of guessed it would not be enough.

One of my link directory websites is Top 30 at Yahoo for: Free Link Directory
(It was top 10 - out of over 800,000,000 results a few weeks ago)

    Just respect my conglomerate....

Kind Regards and Wishing you the Best,

    What a REAL JOKER!!!! HAHAHA

Pat, you should be a stand up comic...

Pat, you should learn more about someone before you make stupid comments like this, because I know that you know NOTHING ABOUT ME and my experience in working with search engine optimization.

I am far from perfect, but I can see you have a lot more to work on that myself. Go learn something and get back with us...
