    Alexa contact info question

I have one question I hope that someone will know the right answer. I hope that I picked the right forum to place my question.

Our web site had correct contact info at Alexa until recently. Yesterday we saw that the address name and city was changed. So I'm interested how is it posible that it is changed when it is written that only people who have email address @mydomainname.com can change the info because they have to verify that submission. Only several people have @mydomainname.com address, we don't offer free email address to people. They didn't change the contact info so I don't know how it changed some fields!?

Is it posible that no one made that change? I heard that some people also had problems with info at Alexa.

    Does anyone have the answer?

    Re: Alexa contact info question

Only ways to change contact info through Alexa....
    -------------------------------------------------------

To confirm your changes you must do one of the following...

Enter an e-mail address where we can contact you
Your e-mail address will be used to verify that you are authorized to make changes to your site info and will not be used for any other purpose. We will verify your e-mail address before accepting any suggestions.

The e-mail address must be on dnforum.com.

Or, Place a file called info.txt on the root of your site

To update your contact info, you may place an info.txt file containing your contact info in the root of your site for Alexa to fetch.

Right-click this link: info.txt. And save it to your computer.
Copy the info.txt file from your computer to the root of your site.
Verify that the info.txt file is there with your browser. (Go to http://www.dnforum.com/info.txt.)
Once you have verified that the file is there, tell us to fetch it by clicking this link: Go Fetch

    Re: Alexa contact info question

Thanks for answering, I know that, read their policy. That's why I don't know how our contact info has been changed. I heard that some people had problems that when they enter their domain names that some other domain name is listed as the site's owner. It is even mentioned in Alexa FAQ. They say that it can happen sometimes because of their search algorithms.

I read that the contact info has to be @thatdomain.com What does it mean, that every person with some free email account can change the Alexa contact info for the company which offers that free email service!?
