Best way to promote a forum?

What are the best ways to promote a forum? As you can see I put it in my signature.

The best way would be to make sure you have all your tags right and description right get phpBBSeo installed (if you haven't already).

Then of course LINKS!! and relivant ones at that.

i noticed that competition is another great way to promote your site, says create a logo for your forum.

0. put up some posts to not look empty

1. SE first , target main keywords

2. put some moderators to moderate and build more

3. people will came back if you improve the forum, moderate posts, more pages = more traffic from SE's as well so it will grow

1. Put forum url in signature
2. DO some adwords program
3. Get Good mods and active members

4. make sure your forum never goes deactive no matter how few the members are
5. If you can afford get some paid posting or do posting exchange and
6. Finally promote in directories as well in top forum list or sumthng like that

Rule number one:

Join as many similar forums as possible and put your forum in your signature.

This doesn't work of course if there are any rules against it on the forums you join.
