Can I SEO this name..

please help me I am not well schooled with this...

lets say for example I just registered bluewidget.com to have developed, a name in which i am planning to start a business with ...

but :

blue-widget.com has been registered for 5+ years in japan. No enlgish on the site despite english name. Google Page rank of 2.

The products to be sold are similar.

Question:

Will I get Search Engine "Respect" ? Or will google punish me? ((despite that I have the full two words attached)

I don't see what one has to do with the other.

Unless of course the content on site is similar or translated.

Else you should have no problem ranking for blue widget.

Some keywords in both sites will naturally be the same - it's the same concept.

lets say it's "eco friendly utensils".

We will have different utensils and I am not copying their website. but words like "utensils" and "eco friendly" etc.. will naturally be the same if translated...

given such differences and similarities , this should not be an issue ?

Just trying to be on the safe side...

Common Terms don't matter.

Its the complete content which is taken into account.

At least imho.
