I'll second vBulletin. I would also recommend that you steer clear of IPB. I had a very bad experience with Invision Power. If you're interested you can read about it here...

VBulletin or phpBB. phpBB is a free script and is my personal favorite, but VBulletin is awsome as well.

As for SEO, I can optimize a phpBB forum for oyu, and I can recommend someone who can optimize VBulletin. PM me if your interested.

I read in another forum that vB sends Jelsoft back reports on select actions. It is said that the AdminCP has spyware. I don't know myself just thought I'd raise that question.

Umm, it does send back somethign to Jelsoft, but thats limited to the domain on which the forum is installed, the version number, and the license key. This prevents peopel from sharing keys, or using pirated versions of forum.

Its not spyware per say cause it is not collecting any information about you.

Hi Andreww,
vBulletin is the best, but if you don't have $160 to spend then you want to use phpBB.

It might not be quite as robust as vB, but it's still very nice forum software, and best of all it's free.

Once you've installed it, (and choosen your skin), then you need to apply the able2know SEO hack.

Without this Google will only ever index the home page, but with the SEO hack installed, Google will index every post in your forums, which means hundreds of keyword rich pages.

The installation for both is well documented, and should take you about an hour, but if you can't do it yourself, PM me, I can do it for you for around $15.
