Do software that submit to Directories and Blogs actually help your link popularity and if so does anyone recommend a cheap one?

There are many programs out there that submit your sites for you to directories and yes they can help you save time and increase your link pop,
Do a search for directory submitter in the main search engines and you should find what you need.
But one thing is you will not find a program that will do this for you 100% on auto pilot... at least i have not found any...
