Smile Do dedicated ip addresses improve SEO

Is having a dedicated server / ip address for your website going to be more beneficial in the long run for getting good rankings in search engines esp Google or is it not that big an issue? Can someone explain the pros and cons of dedicated hosting versus shared hosting in respect to seo tactics.

hi, using a dedicated IP address can have a positive influence on your site's search engine rankings. We have seen many cases where we move sites from a shared environment to a dedicated IP environment and within weeks, there is a 5-6 placement difference with no other changes.

If you are not sure whether you are using a shared or dedicated IP address, you can either call your hosting company and ask them, or type the IP address into the browser, and see what comes up. If you see your website, it means you are using a dedicated IP address. If you see someone else's website, it means you are using a shared IP address. You can get dedicated IP addresses with VPS hosting or dedicated hosting. If your website does not have a lot of traffic, then, it's recommended to get a VPS hosting, since VPS hosting is much cheaper than the dedicated hosting. cheers

I don't think it's being on it's own server that helps but not being with dozens / hundreds / thousands of other sites on the same IP (including many banned / blacklisted domains).

Dedicated IP would be good for SEO but its not compulsory to have it for getting SEO benefit, if you have optimized your site for SE's and have good number of backlinks with rich content then even on shared IP you can rank well.
Usually dedicated IPs are used for installing SSL certificates or if you want to have clean IP for some specific reason

Yes a dedicated IP can help, but many websites can share a single IP Address.

Most big companies have many IP Address and a lot of small companies do too.

I have more than 10 IP's on 3 different servers currently.

When is comes to having a Dedicated IP address and SEO it is not a huge deal, but it can make a difference. IP Address are cheap, so when and if you can afford it, it would be advisable to use a dedicated IP address, but other factors are much more important.

The number of IPs is limited, this makes it impossible to have an unique IP for each existing website.
I don't see why search engines would encourage something which is not possible.
