Hope this helps!

It is my understanding that an older domain will have a benefit in its search rankings. I wanted to know if changing registrars for a domain would reset its age in terms of any SEO benifit that age may give. The domain has not had a site on it to date.
Additionally, what about drop catching? If you drop catch an old domain, does this reset the domain age in terms of any SEO benefit?
Thanks for any advice.

The domain name will retain its original creation date.
If the domain name has dropped (been deleted) the creation date will be reset. Now it's not neutered in terms of SEO, it will normally still have history and backlinks.
It depends on the pre-drop history too, if the domain has been deactivated/offline for months this will hurt SEO.
I don't see one single reason why switching to another registrar would do that. But there is one thing that you need to pay attention to, make sure that the new registrar will retain the same DNS and not apply their 'default' settings as soon as the name is transferred to them. So that there is no interruption in service.

Agreed. Just change the DNS to a third party provider or your own dns server before the transfer, not the registrars dns server.

Makes sense about retaining the NS.. perhaps thats where I went wrong..
Hi Guys,
Thanks for the advice. I am thinking I wont bother with the transfer now, the current registrar is a bit more expensive to renew than GoDaddy or namecheap, but am thinking it will be fine to pay the bit extra per year and start to get a site up fairly quickly.
godaddy or name cheap?? Fabulous or Moniker is where it's at... I'm just saying.
Also, nobody here knows google's algorhythm, but based on my experience, I would suspect that changing your registrar would have no effect on you PR or SEO so long as you keep the NS's the same.
