DNF$: 0 Location: Kentucky | A Few Good Website Marketing Tips I have tried many marketing techniques.. Many of which failed.. But I have had a few work quite well... 1. The best move that I have ever made was creating a FREE knol on knol.google.com on the day that google released the beta.. By jumping aboard so soon I was able to write the first google knol on web hosting. Since I created the first knol on web hosting, I am also listed first when you search for web hosting on google knol search.. This has literally sent tuns of traffic to my site.. This is a relatively new service and just like anything, those who get the most out of it will be those who jump aboard early. 2. I paid a guy $35 to submit my site to 135 popular social bookmarking sites such as digg... So far... I have had a lot of success. 3. A lot of people frown on free web traffic sites.. And honestly many of them stink... However, I have actually had $360 worth of leads because of linkreferral.com... Free service or not.. $360 is $360.. haha.. 4. I have joined this forum and another forum and have tried to participate and write quality posts without spamming... People have seemed very receptive and I have seen a lot of new visitors to my site from those just clicking on my signature. These are a few of my most successful marketing techniques.. I do not have a lot of money to pay for marketing but being creative can sure work wonders... What are you most successful marketing techniques?

DNF$: 111 Location: Australia | HI I also recommend you get articles written and submit them to article directories this really brings in long term traffic while building your backlinks.... Link Directory submissions are also worth doing.. Thx Tom |

Country: | I have noticed that joining other forums related to yours and sharing common interests you will pull in new visitors. Submit your link to blogs related to your forum. |

Country: | alreadyknow, Thanks for lending your experiences. However, while most of these techniques do increase traffic somewhat, it's even harder to convert this traffic into sales, leads or return visitors. All except for your #4 and halfway of your #1 which is what networking is: whether social or business. Over the past 8 years I have never paid for advertising. My work comes from word of mouth and networking has been the winner for me. This may not apply to everyone because it depends on what your site's goals are but be careful of wasting time increasing traffic. You're probably asking why would anything that increased traffic waste time? My question to you is would you rather have 1 out of 1,000 visitors a day click on an ad or purchase a product? Or would you rather have 50 out of 100 visitors a day click on an ad or purchase a product? It's all about targeted traffic which you won't find in the methods you're using.

| Platinum Lifetime Member | Hiya, I'm sorta new to marketing. I understand that free directories and such don't bring much results, and take a long time, especially if you have many sites, but what works? You may not work and have physical contact in the industry of the site you're working on, so what do you do? Online forums and public groups on Yahoo! and Google seem to be one way, but what else is there? |

Country: | Hey There, I am very much impressed by the move taken by you mentioned in the first point. Its a very genuine one to go with. Knol is getting on par with wiki these days and the type of description they give is very interactive. I remember when I was searching some article about the admission in to US Universities based up on your GRE scores. The results they gave me saved me 150$ and I was capable of deciding my university based on it and finally got an admit recently.. Or else I d have to pay 150$ to a consultancy.. P.S: I hope I am the guy you were mentioning in the second point ![]()

DNF$: 110 Location: Costa Rica | Links don't bring in traffic if they are from directories or crap sites that nobody visits. It's all about the quality of the links and knowing where to find them. Do some research into your keywords/industry/competition/customers/etc and you'll probably find some great links out there that will bring in great traffic! Check analytics for unique website page content, top landing pages, time on page etc and optimize site accordingly Write new articles and content for your website Distribute articles/press release Related forums and blog posts in comments if they are relevant and add value Related and value added information are key to driving customers to your website...
