Yes, this is very carefully updated list. Also it lists only those directories which give search engine friendly links. Directories which give redirected links are not listed. So it safe & useful directories list.Originally Posted by snicksnack

good stuff. You're the man.
Thank you peoples... Great stuff
So, is it beneficial to submit generic parked domains to these directories? Or is that against TOS? I'm curious about boosting pagerank of generic parked domains that I have, but I also don't want to get them blacklisted or dilute the quality of my type-in traffic.
Any thoughts on this?
No it does not dilute your quality:Originally Posted by financialtraffic
1. All the directories are Page Ranked themselves.
2. DMOZ is a directory and nothing more. So if you were going to be penalized then it would happen with them also.
3. This is a good way to help drive traffic to your site.
4. You will not be blacklisted for submitting to a directory. You will be blacklisted or downgraded if you submit to link farms which are themselves not a directory, but a link parking scheme that no longer works. They do not usually have any content so the value of you link to a farm is worthless.
In the case of directories they are considered good content and contain useful information that people are looking for. Link farms do not.

Most of the directories list only fully developed sites. I dont think there is any quality directory which accepts parked pages.Originally Posted by financialtraffic

There are two schools of thought ... those who believe parking is more efficient and those who believe developing provides greater value ...Originally Posted by Nasgotti
There isn't a right or wrong answer ...
A very valid argument that those on the "parking" side of the debate offer is that it takes a lot of time to develop and *effectively* promote a website - time that for them, can be better put towards identifying and acquiring quality domain names ... so they trade the "potential" per domain higher profits for what they believe will be higher profits in total from a greater quantity of domains ...
For example ... this year, I will spend thousands of hours "developing and promoting" 3-5 new websites with no guarantee that they will work out and actually make money ...
Those "thousands" of hours could be spent identifying and acquiring a significantly larger number of domain names to be parked for the parking revenue ...
However ... developing involves a lot more than simply building one page, putting adwords on it and promoting it ...
Three websites last year ... #1 made $368.56, #2 made just about $6K (I don't have final numbers for it yet), and #3 made $32,955.66 ...
So clearly, I am in the develop them camp ... but let's *briefly* look at the numbers above ... site #1 I expected to make $6K - it only made $368.56. Site #2 I expected to make between $1,800 and $3,000 - it doubled my expectations. And site #3 was actually started the year before when I expected it to only make about $300 - but it also requires ongoing work.
There are a lot of people who either:
- Think that the *time* put into these sites could have better been put into finding quality domains for parking revenue ...
- or are unwilling/unable to put the time into learning how to develop a website, monetize a website, and properly promote a website ...
So which camp you fall into ... is largely a choice ... for many people, they can make more money by buying domain names, testing them for parking revenue, and if they don't make enough money in a parking program, then turning around and selling the "loosers" to someone like me who wants to develop them ...
I've bought some great domain names here from people ... because I see a domain name that can be used for what I call a $300 idea ... I often will park them until I have time to develop them ... most of them are dogs in the parking game, but often can make that $300 to $3,000 if properly developed ... but developing them takes an incredible amount of time and energy with absolutely no guarantee that they will actually make any money ...
For me ... I figure it costs me $300 and 200 hours of time to test an idea that may make zilch, zip, nada ... probably will make $300, and I believe can reasonably make $3,000 ... that's my strategy and approach ...
But you know, if it only makes that $300, then I only made $0.015 cents an hour. Are you willing to take that risk? Are you willing to risk $300 and 200 hours of your time to break even or only make a little more than a penny an hour?
It happens all the time ...
Now if I can automate a website ... then I love the $300 to $3,000 a year websites ... because they will create a residual stream of income for a least a few years without much time spent to update them each year ... so the neat thing is when you have websites several years old that are still generating you additional money month after month ... of course, that is the same argument that the Parking side of the argument will make ...
So ... pick your path ... pursue your dreams ... there is no one right way to do things, but if you read everything here and ask lots of questions, you might avoid some of the pitfalls others have run into ...
So your question is brilliant ... it is a very good question ... the answer you will have to determine for yourself from the myriad of answers and opinions others (like myself) will express ...
And the correct answer is the answer that is right for you ...
Best of luck ...
Greg
