Google alogrithms CHANGING in 2009 -ARE WE DOOMED??

I have recently read on many forums and articles that google is changing its alogrithms in a major way - which will affect your rankings.

Pages rank high per keyword etc, but i heard this will all change, as they are changing them.

Changing search engine methods include

Personalization Searching such as:
Behavior Based Search
Intent-based Search
Universal Search

(somthing about a users Behaviour search- based on their 'history of searches')

Have you heard about these? apparently they are going to change the way your site gets ranked,

ranking will be a thing of the past, keyword searches will NOT pull up your website if it was previously in the top 10 searches in google, but your ranking will not be as important with this new method.

Anybody heard about these new personalization methods, and are worried that SEO ranking will slowly be a thing of the past?

Here is the source

-> http://www.webpronews.com/topnews/20...ned-on-its-ear

Tell me what you think, and how it will affect future SEO rankings/linking and whether it is worth building new incomming links to a brand new site now, to rank high for 'particular keyword terms' which i have selected.

I don't know what to think.... what do you make of it on future of ranking/seo/link building- wud it be a waste to do that now if in 6 months things would change??

Basic purpose of Google never changed and never will.
They want to provide best web site for the search term.
And that would be contents of your site.

Just stick with Basic SEO and you'll be fine.

It will head that direction gradually, but it's not going to fall out of the sky overnight. Call me old school, but I get tired of the IP monitoring, "choose my direction for me" mind set of the New Net.

The sky is falling - the sky is falling! LOL

Cookie based behavioral search - there's a fun one! Very few of us leave cookies for very long anymore.

IP based search - not much more than country searches on google. And that's a great thing for those of us who target a certain country! More traffic coming my way! Woohoo!

And what's really priceless are all these people not connected to google who somehow know how the inner-workings of google's never released algorithms are going to work in the near future...

Google has always changed things up from time to time. Someone has to rank on the first page no matter what they do and content - real original content that is, will remain king.

Why is it that every time something changes, people tend to panic?

We do business on the internet, the world's most rapidly changing and evolving medium.

The internet changes, we adapt. Domaining lives on.

If you have good content websites you shouldn't worry... You should be happy for these changes. Otherwise start developing with real content and update it regularly, it will pay off. I know it's been said zillion times, but it can't be repeated enough.

Have any of you notice any changes yet, like your sites no longer in Google that once were?

I have had a large handful of sites drop out of google and I have had others get better indexes in google

Very easy explanation:

We are extremely liberal when it comes to other people's money.
We are extremely conservative when it comes to our own money.

Some up, some down (all a 0 or 1), one actually reached a PR2.

well I heard many!! they say right now they are focusing mainly on the age of the domain!! I am not sure if it is true or not!! but google never lets this information out and it is not legal for their employees to spread. Google has the right to sue them!!

People usually infer them based on some series of observations and write it over the World Wide Web!!

What google has been doing from years and will do for years is giving the people best results
