    Question Google Analytics question

Do redirects get counted in the Google analytic numbers as referral sites or do they count at all?

My guess is that they actually do not count as there is a huge variance from one site counting that actually counts and tallies those redirect hits (actually lists every site making a referral as well as redirects) and the overall hit count on Google analytics.

    Anyone know for sure?

I am pretty sure that they do not count; however I will confirm tomorrow when I am in the office....

I also don't think they count them. I was actually thinking the same thing earlier today when trying to work out my stats.

I'm not 100% sure but I think they count it as Direct Hits.

Well, the reason I posed this question in the first place is that a previous program I had tracking (which I have kept) and google analytics are entirely worlds apart.

GA does not have all sources of traffic and URL forwarding showing as does the other program. Total counts on GA are way lower than the other tracking software. And the other site specifies much more data.

So I was trying to determine if one is falsely high or one falsely low.

My solution? Keep em both running.

Are you running filters on sites that get redirected?

    This might help

    Hmm...I have no idea.

But I will try to discover if I am and try to change things.

This could very well be the reason.

    Thanks!
