Google Pushing "google books" in Search

Just curious how many others out there have noticed how much the big G is showing their online book project in their results.

I did a search for "reagan view on regulations" (no quotes)

Results showing 3 out of the top ten are links to G books.

The links looks like: books.google.com/books?isbn=somexxnumbersxxxhere

I am using Firefox's (v. 3.0.5) G search box, not sure if that has any influence.

My search here

I have noticed this with increased regularity.

In fact, I am beginning to wonder how reliable search results are now.

If google is now listing the word(s) or phrase(s) as it appears in their vast digital library, then how can the results be interpreted for our benefit?

Market/Users will decide.
Google keep doing it and people think it sucks, then, they'll start using
other SE, Google will know it's not a good idea and will adjust.

Although Google is THE biggest one, Internet will be ok without Google.

Google has a bad habit on pushing its own projects high on rankings. I remember when they launched Knol...within a week this new project outranked lots of Wiikipedia pages. It took a lot of complaints and negative comments to stop showing a week old page on top of the search results at that time...

They do it for most of their competitive services so why not do it for books too

Just search for the word blog...You will see blogger first and then wordpress

Then search for the word video...You will see video.google.com first and then youtube...

They would be at least fools if they did not this...

I guess they do some sort of manual editing or something similar when it comes to their services...

It is at least provoking but what can we do...They rule the search industry for now...

I guess we are getting closer and closer to an antitrust lawsuit imo.
You cant easily have a huge market share and use this share to distribute in a non competitive way your products. Some practices will lead governements to regulations one day.

Google has a damn great business model, and I am a keen admirer of what they managed to build but I am not sure being successful at such a scale is always rewarded.
